Question about Goodman Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Replacing a Rheem Heat Pump condensor with a Goodman Heat Pump condensor. We have never installed either brands. Have been advised that Rheem has different wire scheme for reversing valve. Question is... is there any technical information available from Goodman covering how to wire the 24 volt wiring system for a Goodman Condensor with a Reheem AHU, and describes the differences? Thank you!

I have a Rheem AHU and Thermostat... replacing condensor with a Goodman HP. The Rheem equipment uses "B" for heating. I'm not sure but I think the Goodman uses "O" for heating. Do I use the "B" wire on the "O" terminal? Thank you.

The difference is that the reversing valve is energized it heat mode for one brand and energized in the cooling mode for the other brand. An "O" on the circuit board indicates energized in cooling and a "B" on the circuit board indicates energized in heating.

WHERE IS THE Goodman GSZ130301 RESET BUTTON ON CONDENSOR

No reset button. As for low/high pressure switches they reset on their own when the problem is corrected. Usually low refrigerant.

Goodman heat pump model gph1442h41aa will not turn on

first confirm that the condensing unit outside is getting power or even a command to come on .check function of thermostat your t-stat may command heat in the cooling mode.instead of the heat mode, being a heating system generated by a cooling condensor. also check bateries in t-stat. make sure breker in the panel box is on ,it is a double breaker usualy marked with an amp rating of 20 ,or a 30 on it . also check disconnect switch located next to your outdoor condensor usualy a gray box on wall of building. make sure its on or diconnect tab is pluged in . hope this was helpful. good luck.

Reversing valve installed backwards on goodman heat pump have a simple comfort 2000 thermastat the defrost cycle doesn't work . can the reversing valved be wired on the terminal board to accomadate this...

You should be able to move the reversing valve wire from O terminal, (the changeover relay), on the thermostat to B terminal. I deal mostly with York
which O on the t'stat is normally open and B is normally closed.

You may have defective tstat wiring, or a bad control fuse. Check both.

Replacing an older Rheem Ht/Pump w/a new Goodman Ht/Pump

The installation instructions should explain connecting 4 control wires to a 5 wire thermostat. Absent the instructions, check to see if any of the terminals on the new thermostat have jumper wires run between them -- if this is the case the two terminals w/ jumpers will only require one wire, and it doesn't matter which terminal is connected -- just match colors.

Condenser fan wont come on nor will compressor I do have fan op

Thanks for your Question,
First thing to check is the breaker in the panel to see if its tripped, I would suggest turning to off, then back to on, if it trips right after you have a short, if not you will need to check your fuses at the disconnect, first, shut the breaker off to the condensor, then pull the fuses and Ohm check them, if you have no reading then one or both is bad, I would recommend replacing them both if thats the case, if they check good, then you have bigger issues with your heat pump, if these suggestions do not work let me know and I can go into more indepth proceedures with you on what to do, thanks again,
