GE Side by Side Refrig - loud noise behind the ice maker section Model PSS25SGMB BS

it sounds like the evaporator fan blade is hitting some ice that has built up around the blades i have seen this happen a lot on g.e. SxS lately,if you can remove the ice maker and dispenser you can see the fan blade,if you dont want to do this then shut down the refrigerator and leave freezer door open and heat it carefully with a hairdrier to speed the process up to melt this ice then restart it and the noise should be gone

I have a GE side by side refrigerator, with an icemaker in the door. The refig is slightly less than 6 years old. I have been out of town for a few days, but today opened the door to get something out...

Seriously? Mine just did the same thing today. The electric on the inside is fine. No cooling. there is a code blinking HRS on the inside. the ice and water were working intermittently the past couple of weeks. wtf?

I found a post describing the exact thing I have going on but it was from 3 years ago.

Freezer not cold

Check Compressor. If its too hot to hold your hand on it then
you may need a new compressor. Check condensor fan, and check
evaporator fan

I have GE GSS22WPGT and there is a constant

you have condisation on your condensor fan and it is vibrating. when you defrosted the unit you melted all the ice in the freezer. once the unit got cold again you had the same problem. it happens when you open the freezer door. the only way to fix it is to repalvce the fan and fan motor, as well as the main board. this is a costly repair unless it is under warranty.

GE Profile Side by side- lines from custom cool covered with ice

I can't give you a solution but I can tell you that we have exactly the same situation. The freezer seems to work but we come back and water has dripped from the ice holder and formed a classic stalagtite (or is it a stalagmite?) Obviously something has melted. We have also found items in the freezer melted - yet the digital readout said it was 3 degrees! Arghhhhh. Glenn in Delaware

GE Refrigerator Stoped making ice

the small pipe in side the freezer the one that supplies water to it, it builds ice in side, you can melt the ice by getting some hot water and a towel and wet the pipe with it intel ice melts , or you can unplug the frige with the door open over night.first solution is better.

Freezer not freezing, fridge section not cooling

the problem you have sounds like the defrost heater is not being activated causing the evaporator to choke up with ice which will therfore restrict the airflow through the cabinet,
to resolve this problem you are best to defrost the unit and replace the thermal fuse for the heater' and the defrost sensor, both these parts are located behind the evaporator cover inside the freezer.

hope this is of help murdozzz2

Freezer defrost all. RS2556

The most likely is that the door was not closed properly, this is very common on this model, what happens is that the door closes against the freezer contens and therefore appears closed, this allows warm air into the unit which starts to melt the ice, if this should happen again it is a good idea to completely defrost overnight with the doors open and then re start the next morning as ice often builds up behind the rear panel.
