My machine does not have a resume button, it does however have a stop/reset button. the alarm led flashes during alarm and is clear with no alarm.
I changed both ink cartridges just incase.
To do this I had to shut down the machine and restart, during the restart I had to hold the print head during its startup movement causing a jam. On closing the covers the machine indicated this jam. I pressed reset, Print head started it usual start up operation. Print head jam clear, New message waste ink near full, pressed reset, new message check printer ##343. Machin will cary out no more operations.

Oh dear it looks like I will need to carry out the long process of dismantling the machine and using some sort of absorber with a reset of the tanks counter using some code. Would you agree with thi, if so I will need detaile instructions and obviously will have to pay further for thisinformation. I will need the part number for the absorber as I will have to order it over the internet. the code is a problem my documents do not mention it.

    Thanks Mike

Hi,

I am sorry, however this error is no related to print head. So, why did you replace print head?

This error means "Ink Detection Waste Ink Tank Full"
You need to replace the ink pad and reset the eeprom counter to 0.

You could try to reset it :-

1. Printer ‘on.’
2. Press: “Additional Functions” button
Press “Scan” button
Press “Copy” button
Press “Scan” button
3. Now it says, “Service Mode / #1 SSSW.
4. Keep hitting “+” [which is the right arrow]; it will go through #1 to #11 (Date/Time), then “Service Report,” and, lastly, “Test Mode.” Then hit “Set.”
5. Now you will have another set of selections. Keep hitting “+” [the right arrow] to go from #1(DRAM) to #8 (Printer Test). Then hit “Set.”
6. When it finishes some sort of function, “Please Wait” will be replaced by “-8-2+” Then hit “+” and it should then say “-8-3+” and you hit “Set.”
7. The screen should now say “EEPROM Clear.” [You may need to press “Set” then, to get to the next step? My notes aren’t clear.]
8. Option 0 should be “select ink count.” Press “Set.”
9. Press the “Stop/Reset” button.
10. Press the “On/Off” button.
11. Wait for the printer to restart.

You could have the complete service manual from :-

http://soft-manufaktura.ru/manual/hp/mp390sm.pdf

You need to have acrobat reader to view the file.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I will advice you Press and hold the "Resume" button on the printer. Press and hold the "Power" button while holding down "Resume."
Release the "Resume" button. Press "Resume" twice. The indicator light will turn amber followed by green.
Release the "Power" button. Press the "Resume" button four times.

Is it possible that you accidentally put the wrong colour cartidges in the wrong spots? Otherwise, it should work fine. Also, the printer's default is usually to print in colour, therefore even pages in black and white will usr colour, which uses up coloured ink. Always check the prooerties when printing to switch to b&w:)

In my case this happened with black cartridge out of ink, colour cartridge low; replaced black: had permanent alignment problem, though test print looked OK; wouldn't print black. Replaced colour cartridge, then it all worked OK, straightaway!

Cannot print in black because color cartidge is out of ink

There is a 'low toner' override in the menu system, but if this has NOT been set already, a 'flag' will be set on the chip on the cartridges that are low/empty.

The printer needs to 'see' cartridges that are usable, i.e. NOT empty, in order to function.

It is possible to replace just the chips on the colour cartridges, but then any colour printing quality could be compromised of course, as the colours will be low/empty. You would then be able to use the printer as if it were a mono laser, just changing the black cartridge when needed

If a cartridge is expended, you must replace it to be able to print. If a cartridge is low, you can continue printing until a cartridge needs replacement. You cannot print or copy when an ink cartridge is expended even if the other cartridges are not expendedI have come across this issue many times and unforunately you have to replace the colour carts in order to continue to use the printer.

Have changed Ink Black and Colour... Stil getting error Message.

Make sure the tape covering the hole on the bottom of the black cartridge is removed. and then go into the printers folder and right click on your printer icon and go into the properties of that printer and there should be something in there to tell it that you changed cartridges and you can also print a test page as well.
