Hello, Terry.

Since, per Soundtaxi support, only one license code can be activated only on one PC, there really isn't a way to change the System ID.

I'd suggest to contact SoundTaxi support at, describe your problem and provide details of your problem and your purchase info (your name, e-mail address, order / reference number).

Hope this helps.

Hp iq524 touchsmart recovery cds will not load windows on new hard drive

Try deleting the partitions. You can use any Windows install disc to accomplish this if the HP won't.

For manual deletion you need is fdisk.exe and possibly and at the command prompt.

Resumin windows... for troubleshooting and advanced startup options for windows.. Press F8. I've tried but it did not do anything. It appears as the screen is frozen.

Either you did not shutdown the computer properly or the hard drive failed. When you press F8, it should give you an option to boot to "Safe Mode". Boot to "Safe Mode" and it should load up to the account login page and your desktop:

- If it does load, attempt a system restore by going to Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore, then select a previous time/date to go back to.

- If it doesn't load, then the hard drive has very likely crashed, which would mean you will need to replace the hard drive.

- One more thing you can try is performing a factory recovery. The downside to this is that you need an external CD/DVD-ROM drive and the Operating System discs. This will allow you to restore the computer to factory settings, so it will erase everything you have on the hard drive and reload a clean OS and appear just like the first day you purchased it. This will rule out any software issues.

After using the setup DVD the windows boot screen appears with the green bar travelling across the bar then it just freezes up. Tried to crash out and cannot, tried to change every option on the reload and...

If the old hard drive failed where the computer locked up I would suspect problems with the computer. It is possible that the new hard drive has issues. As far as compatibility, there are very few problems with hard drives, as this is all but unheard of. What keeps this from happening is the plugs are different on different hard drive interfaces, so bottom line is it wont let you plug in the wrong type of drive, as the plug wont fit. I would suggest you go into the setup program, and choose the default settings for the hardware. This can solve lots of problems. Now if the computer was crashing with the old hard drive you could have computer problems. One of the most common is dust and lint inside blocking the airflow to the computers processor. It is a good idea to have your laptop professionally cleaned internally if it is locking up, for no apparent cause, I would say that 80% of the time this is the only problem when a laptop is locking up. You wouldn't believe the build up these get inside. Good luck with it.

Dell Vostro 1500 won't boot after downloading updates

What programs are installed on the machine? there may be a file that's conflicting with one of the updates. You may leave automatic updates turned off. Looking for the culprit will require and will be easier if a tech will check the computer onsite or thru remote access.

Re-Loading Software

Since they installed a generic copy of xp, there are none of the sony installed add-ons present on the computer. go here to view the available downloads for your system provided by sony, you will have to select the "EVERYTHING" tab to see the giga downloads if it does not load there.
Otherwise you will have to contact sony for a recovery disk specific to your system.

Hard drive crash, drive defects in the area where the O/S is, or, corrupted O/S files.

Download the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic software and run it. It will examine your drive and give you an evaluation.

If it tells you the drive is fine, the either a complete reload, or a repair will get you back up and running. Whether you will be able to recover any of your data, will depend on the drive condition.
