Sylvania netbook won't associate with network

I have tried several networks, the signals are strong, and the netbook attempts to connect, but then it fails. tech support for this product must be way overwhelmed since CVS are selling them since Sunday for $99. I like others have been waiting several days for their return call which their VM says will occur within 24 hours.

SOURCE: my new sylvania 7" netbook is not

Go to start menu. click on control panel. click on network connections. click on the computer icon that comes up, to the left with list options, one of the options should be search for wireless networks. Your Wifi card might have gotten switched off by accident. The computer icon I spoke of earlier would likely say "not connected" right click and a box will appear click "connect".Or if it is a wireless window, you will want to click scan for available networks. Hope this helps

Do you have a password on your network, that's what it looks like it wants. But you can also have some spyware. I would run your virus program and any anti-spyware programs you have. You can also go on to internet explorer and go to tools then internet options then click on the advanced tab and click on reset. If you can try to install Malwarebytes it is a free program that removes spyware. Please let me know if this helped, thanks for using FixYa

SOURCE: We just got a sylvania

Follow the detail below.

It is looking for apassword (WiFi Network Key) You have to double click on the little computericon down in the right tool bar area, the one with the two side radiating arcs, and possibly has a small red X under it. The red X indicates that it is NOTconnected. When you double click on that icon a window called RT28701 opens up,then you click on Wireless Information tab, then you cursor down to the name ofyour WiFi and high light it and click the connect box. Then another windowopens up called Network Properties. Uncheck "The key is providedautomatically" box. This will allow you to type in your "NetworkKey", the password that protects your network from outsiders. This"KEY" was set up when you installed the router on your servercomputer. If this does not work at first, turn the machine over on it's backand using a toothpick, insert it into the little hole about an inch diagonallyfrom the right corner of the data plate, this will re-load a new copy ofeverything including the WiFi RT28701 driver. Some times thisdriver gets confused. I enter the key and hit the OK button. I still do notget a connection, so I reboot the machine, and wait for about 30 seconds andthe machine synchs up because the little RED X under the icon has disappeared. Now the machine will hook to the internet as long as I want to, but sometimeswhen I turn the machine on it will not synch, so I go through the abovesequence again. I do not exactly know, but Isuspect that the WiFi driver looses it You may also wantto look at the TIP http://www.fixya.com/support/r7679654-sylvania_syneto7526_wirless_keyboard To make your knowledge complete AdditionalInformation When I try to signon with the red X showing, I get "The page cannot be displayed If I thendouble click on the icon down in the right corner I elucidated above, RT28701opens up to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) with all zeros in the IP addressfield, and Subnet Mask, with no entries in the default gateway. SOURCE: Why won't sylvania netbooks stay connected to

Try checking with your wireless provider to make sure you have a large enough connection to use two computers at the same time. If one pc is set to have priority on using the wireless connection over the netbook, it will bump it offline.

If your netbook is loosing the signal itself, try moving your router or modem to another position to see if it solves the problem. Keep your router/modem away from things like microwaves, stereo's and other electronics that can cause interference.

Cannot accress WiFi on Sylvania SYBET7WIC-BK-Z

The Sylvania Netbook is an inexpensive 7-inch device that is convenient for accessing the Internet on public or private Wi-Fi networks. It is not intended to replace a regular computer for daily tasks; its purpose is to provide a lightweight unit to access social media and perform small tasks. The netbook defaults to mobile websites, but it does a good job at what it is intended to do. Connecting to Wi-Fi networks with your Sylvania Netbook requires configuring the device properly.

Boot up the Sylvania Netbook by pushing the manual switch below the screen. Push the F9 key to turn on the Wi-Fi on the device. Select the little wireless icon in the toolbar at the bottom; it looks like a small computer. Choose the "Wireless Information" tab. This will show the online status of the device, as in whether it has connected to the Internet. If you have checked the box beside this option, this tab also notifies you when new networks are available. If the status shows that you have connected. You may need to add your wireless router manually in the setup. Do this by choosing, "Add New." Obtain the necessary setup information from your wireless Internet provider. If you have an encrypted network, you will need to fill in that information about your router. To configure the wireless setup further, click on the name of the wireless network. Click on "Advanced Settings" and adjust your connection choices; this tab determines the order of connection if there is more than one network available. Another important setting on this tab is the "Allow Windows to configure my wireless settings" option. Check that box. Click the "Internet Explorer" icon on the desktop. If you are online, you will pull up the Google homepage. Hope this helps.

What is dns

DNS stands for Domain Name System. The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical distributed naming system for computers, services, or any resource connected to the Internet or a private network. It associates various information with domain names assigned to each of the participating entities. Most importantly, it translates domain names meaningful to humans into the numerical identifiers associated with networking equipment for the purpose of locating and addressing these devices worldwide.
