Hi. Recommended video card would be 128mb and maximum would be 256mb using a PCi slot.

Need more power from video card for gaming

The HD3200 on-board (integrated on the motherboard) graphics on this older machine will not support many games. You need to add a separate graphics card to this unit and disable the on-board graphics. Decide on how much you can afford for a new card and check out tomshardware.com VGA charts to see the best performing video card in your price range. You might also consider a newer machine as this is probably about 5 years old. Whatever machine you get, make sure you do not depend on on-board graphics if you want to do gaming.

Yes you need to know what video card "or chipset" was used in your pc from Acer. May actually need to open the pc up to see the model of the board if its an onboard. Once you know what video card is in it or chipset if onboard then you can go to that manufactures website and see they have a win7 driver. If not your looking for a new video card but thats rarely the end

The embedded video chip in this pc or the optional add-on video cards that were offered with it are extremely old models, that are just Dx8 compatible. Win 7 need a video card that is at least Dx9.2 compatible = you will need to upgrade your video with something like

I want to install windows 7 on my 3000 J105 8258-J6U, what should i do in order to get my system compatible? Can i install a compatible video card, what should i do?

Your system should be able to run Windows 7 as is. However, if you decide to go this route I would upgrade your ram to the 2gb max at the very least.

To tell you the truth, however, I personally would recommend just buying a new machine as opposed to upgrading. By the time you add up the money that you would spend on new ram/video card/hard drive to make the upgrade worthwhile you would be spending more than what a low end desktop would cost ya at Best Buy. Not only would the price be equivalent... but you would have way better specs, a new machine, and a warranty to go with it.

Low resolution of monitor

Right click on your desktop and select Properties (win XP or older), or Personalize (vista and windows 7), and select a higher screen resolution on the settings tab (XP), or by clicking "display settings" (windows vista or 7). If your slider is all the way to the right, make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card, or if the PC is older, you may need a new one that supports the resolution of the monitor.

Have a emachine w4885 desktop. cannot get any sound. I is teling me I have no audio device, i used to have on. can anyone help, i need my music

hello, if it was working before, here is few things you can check, first lets verify that for some reason it is not driver issue, go in device manager and make sure there is no yellow excalmation mark in front of multimedia/audio device, if yes, follow this link and reinstall drivers and test again
http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Audio/Audio_Realtek_5.10.0.5170_XPx86_A.zip?acerid=633934348147566657&Step1=Desktop&Step2=W Series&Step3=W4686&OS=X01&LC=en&BC=eMachines&SC=PA_6E
if no excalmation mark is there and you do see your audio card in the list, try this:
go to control panel, double click the"sounds and audio devices", then click on "sounds" tab and make sure "Windows default" is selected under "sound scheme". Now go to "Audio" tab and make sure under "Sound Playback" your sound card is listed as default device. finally go to "volume" tab and make sure "Mute" is NOT checked, and "place volume icon in the taskbar" IS checked. Click "APPLY" then OK.
test your sound.
hope this helps, let me know if you any more questions.

regards
Amar Sondhi
