Question about Mitsubishi WS-65908 TV

3 Answers

Mitsubishi ws-65908 won't respond to any remote. initially responded to remote to power on, but as soon as picture came on it powered back off. I held the power button and it stopped this, but also stopped responding to remote at all. the diagnostic (holding menu/input) results in a 1,2 blink code.

I forgot to mention that I did do the power fail the other day. thus the 1,2. Should I repeat again, if so will have to try in a.m and get back to you. Otherwise, what else would cause total non responsiveness to the remote?

I've tried to reprogram the harmony880, I've tried replacing batteries on OEM remote, and tried programming the comcast remote to work with it to no avail. The front panel does work, EXCEPT, it has/had a problem with dispaying the menu. sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. happened again this morning, until I power failed and now it works fine. that too is all new. the diag code is still 1,2. Is there any issue with comcast having gone digital, and I still have source cable into ANTA and loop out to DVR?

Just downloaded a service manual to figure out how to open it up. I assume access is as follows?

    2b. Rear Cabinet Disassembly
    1. Remove 12 screws (a) holding the Back Board.

    Do you have the part #? I already mistakenly ordered the Z7K01 939P617010 UNIT-PREAMP - GP1U283Q.

    Is it the 935D519001 ASSY-PWB-PREAMP?

The blinking light signifies to a repair technician with capacitors or circuits are having an issue they can diagnose the problem via the amount of blinks in between pauses however it will require a technician and some specific tools and schematics to fix and it may be cheaper if its no longer under warranty to purchase a new one

Hope this helped

UNPLUG THE SET FOR A MINUTE AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN, 1,2 IS NO ERROR DETECTED. If you removed power it will clear the errors and you will get 1,2.

double check and let me know what you find, I am in California and here to help.

Only two things can cause remote not to work--either it is bad or remote receiver in set is problem--set should still work in manual mode from front keyboard, if power was interrupted you need to try self check again---turn it on and if light comes on and goes off do the self check (menu and input for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.)

If none of the remotes work it is likely the remote receiver inside the set is bad(it is located at the top near the three large black lens and is on a tiny circuit board; one screw holds the board in and it may still be available from Mitsubishi---simple to replace--no soldering.

It is possible if the remote receiver is acting up it may cause odd problems. If you get the remote to function I can tell you a way to disable the entire front keyboard---you could have a problem there not related to the remote--tiny switches behind the front buttons do go bad.

DTV is HD input but look to see if red lens is lit====set does have a hard reset which might cure it if it is a issue---it is based at the exact model number, a four digit code and the working Mitsubishi remote control.

How do I reset my Mitsubishi WS-65908

Model number here has 3 hidden menus--adjustment (keep out of that one) and convergence, and OPTION menu.

In the Option menu with the Mitsubishi remote you can do a hard reset of entire set--sets everything back to factory except convergence adjustments.

This requires the Mitsubishi remote and a 4 digit number code.

I am willing to give that but first would like to know WHY you wish to do that as it will not cure all problems like dead set, convergence etc.

Tv wont respond because device menu is changing through each device

I had a similar problem: my WS-55511 would not respond to the remote and the front control buttons (with the exception of Power) cycled through the Device Menu. I solved this problem by disconnecting the front panel. Here's how to do it: 0. Unplug the TV
1. Remove the speaker grill from the front by pulling forward: there are no screws. 2. Disconnect the two cables that are exposed after the grill is removed. 3. Plug the TV back in, wait for 5 minutes to reset. 4. Try using the remote.  Hope this helps!

On these models we have found that a switch is sticking on the control panel not allowing the set to operate properly.
Disconnect the control panel.
You will be able to use the remote on it.
To find the plugs for the control panel:
Remove the speaker grill and front panel, then follow the wire to the connection.

Remember to unplug the set before putting your hands inside of it.

Re:problems

Your TV is probably shutting down due to excessive current draw. Replace the filter capacitor in the power supply and cross your fingers. This will be a large, tall, and round shaped object near the location where your power cord goes into the TV. It has two pins and one is positive and other is negative. Do not get them crosses when installing new part. keever
