You just might have a corrupted registry but it's easy to fix though just click on start - run - type regedit then press enter. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then SYSTEM then CurrentControlSet then Control then Class then 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318

In the right pane, click UpperFilters and or LowerFilters then delete both of them (sometimes only one of either of this shows up, but that's ok)

After deleting filters restart the computer and that should fix the problem.

Should you have any other questions just kindy leave a comment.

Cheers~

bamuicaddic, you are a BRILLIANT, KIND AND GENEROUS PERSON!!! BestBuy told me I would have to leave them my Samsung RV515 laptop for "at least several days" to repair my DVD/CD ROM drive. And I even paid for an extensive warranty. I'm a full-time student, so that's next to impossible. But thanks to you, I repaired it myself in less than 5 minutes! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, AND THANK YOU AGAIN! GOD BLESS YOU. :-)

Can't push button to open CD/DVD player - won't open. Help?

What to do if you get a CD or DVD stuck in your computers optical drive, and it won't eject. You can take several steps to troubleshoot stuck DVDs or CDs.

Computers are what they are, complex. Meaning, a stuck DVD could be one of several possible things. Sometimes it may be easy to fix. Sometimes, not so easy. The best thing to do is troubleshoot the problem.
Here is what you should not do:
- Stick a screwdriver, pocket knife, credit card, or any other object into the DVD drive and try to pry it open or pull the disc out. When stuff doesn't work right, I feel like tossing my computer across the room just as much as the next guy. But just don't do it. Troubleshoot first.

Method 1 - Try Ejecting from Within Windows Navigate on over to Start > Computer. Right-click on your CD/DVD drive choose eject from the drop down menu. Sometimes you can eject the stuck disc using Windows commands.

Method 2 - Software and Drivers The CD/DVD drive was working a week ago right? But all of a sudden it just stops. Chances are good, that you may have installed a program, application, update, driver, etc., that messed with the CD/DVD drive driver.
To troubleshoot this, try doing a system restore. A system restore will uninstall several files and changes to your computer that were made within a certain time frame. If you have just recently upgraded your operating system, this often times cause some device drivers incompatibilities.
Another thing that you can try, is uninstalling the driver for your CD/DVD drive, and reinstalling it. To do this, you will need to make sure that you have a backup of your driver. You should be able to download it from your CD/DVD drive manufacturer's website.

My dvd/cd drive in not reading or working at all.

Try and clean the lens of the drive, test again , If the DVD is spinning and trying to read without success then it is possible that the drive is faulty.
You can recheck using device manager to see the properties of the CD drive , reinstall the driver, if DVD still spins without success then the drive can be the suspect.

try to boot the computer using cd. like you trying to install windows. if it read the cd to get into the windows setup, then cd drive is good.

1st make sure you set the option boot from cd first in the bios.
2nd place a windows setup into the drive.
3rd save and exit the bios.
4th if it ask you to press any key to enter setup then the cd drive is good.

maybe u have a windows problem, try to reinstall windows, that the easy way.

No supported disc burner found

Ok, try and re-install the class filter drivers by in stalling the motherboard/chipset drivers for your system. These can be found either on the website of the motherboard manufacturer, the chipset manufacturer, or even the website of your computer manufacturer.

Another thing to try, would be to uninstall all your media and burning software, and then re-install them 1 by 1, and see if this works.

Hope it works

Prblem playing back DVD

The problem is most likely the DVD player itself not the software. Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Update this if that does not resolve the problem.
