Question about Canon MA-200 Microphone for XL1, XL1S

I hook up ma-200 to my canon xl1s and plug my audio in out wires up, turn my new sony wireless mic up to a rode xlr male to 3.5 mm female adapter, but cant seem to get audio from both at the same time, plus my when flipped down to audio 1 it only picks audio up on one side of the headphones, but cant get both to work at the same time.

Check that you have a three section jack plug If it is only a 2 section plug then one channel of audio will be produced.

You can mount the MA 200 shoulder pad to the XL1 and plug the RCA connector and the mini plug into the port located on the back of camcorder, first open the door. Next, on the side panel where the audio controls are select AUDIO 1. Now assemble a mic using an XLR Cable. Then plug it into the AUDIO 1 port located on the MA 200 Shoulder pad and conduct test. if your using just one mic test the right side, take notice of the gauges located under the handle. the levels should be jumping like crazy. Now remove the XLR cable from the right side and test the left side making your desired audio levels. Now that should work with out question. There are several "line" inputs that should work.you will need an adapter to go from 3/5mm [1/8" phone] to RCA Stereo. This can be a cable with Male 3.5 mm stereo on one end and two RCA male on the other, or a 3.5 M-M cable plus a 3.5 female to RCA male adapter. or a stereo M-M RCA cable with RCA F to 3.5 Male...
If you have easy access to the back panel, plug into and use the CD/Tape [IN]. Or you can simply plug the RCAs into the front L and R audio and use that input sans video.

I just bought the GXL2200 CAD microphone without the cabels,(thought they would've came with), what kind of cable do i need?


As with most microphones, these mics use XLR cables. You can get them online or in a music store in many different lengths. What you need is XLR male to XLR female, though most of the consumer-level stores will probably just call them "mic cables." Note that the thing you're plugging into will need to have an XLR input, and will need to provide phantom power in order for that mic to work.

What is the best way to run the mic on desktop


Your condensor mic requires special electrical handling usually reserved for proffesional audio equipment, not a PC. You will need two pieces of equipment, a short XLR cable and an adapter cable.
1) Behringer PS400 Ultra-Compact Phantom Power Supply.
This will supply the mic with necessary Phantom Power.
2) Rapco Horizon ISOBLOX Transformer Isolation 1:1 BLOX Device
This will isolate the Phantom Power from your computer, allowing it to work as necessary.
The adaptor connector cable you need will be a female XLR (with pins 1 and 3 shorted, pin 2 hot), through a cable connect to a 1/8" mini plug. They connect in that order with a short XLR cable between 1) and 2). .

How do you use the mixer with a regular combo amp and stereo mic cable?


This is not hard to do, but it will require some adapters. Hosa company makes adapters to accomplish this. For example, if your Stereo mic has "1/4 inch male phone plugs" Hosa makes and adapter that has 1/4 inch female plug to Male XLR connectors. The Mackie, and just about every mixer in the world these days has Female XLR connectors for it's microphone inputs. So that will handle tha.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "combo" amp. If it has XLR inputs you can use Tip Ring Sleve male output jacks to the output. If your amp as conventional 1/4 inch female input jacks. Than a simple
1/4 inch Male to Male Guitar Cable will work fine. DON'T USE A SPEAKER CABLE as it is uninsulated and you will get 60Hz hum.

Audio-Technica freeway 200 Series VHF Wireless System - I had problems connecting the wireless system with a quarter inch to a xlr. The sound system made a very loud disturbance sound. What cable do I use...


XLR connectors are a two-wire plus ground system. Using a 1/4 inch to XLR adapter may not connect the wires correctly to your sound system input.

The A-T Freeway 200 Series has a 1/4" output jack. This would indicate a line level. A cable to connect the tip of the 1/4" jack to pin 2 of the XLR and the sleeve of the 1/4" jack to pins 1 and 3 of the XLR should work. The XLR should be plugged into a device that accepts line level.

Ideally, you should plug the 1/4" into a 1/4" or RCA jack that is designed for line levels.

I bought a samson se50 headset microphone to go with my GTD Audio wireless system. It has the correct adapter plug to plug in to the transmitter. The plug is a mini XLR plug. The microphone does not...


You need power from the transmitter to power this mic. See your mics specs to determine if it needs "Phantom Power"
Perhaps the transmitter doesn't supply power. Condenser mics may not work. Stay with the dynamic type. IMHO

My akg perception 200 is not responding


Have you tried using a another XLR cable..,or are the other mics phantom powered condensers..ie try to locate if its a mic problem or the cable..2 other points are 1 - XLR leads for phantom mics need to be XLR to XLR male to Female plugs[ends] 2- is that often an XLR to XLR cable will be not soldered or wired right,so that the power [phantom power is not getting to the mic] so ensure you have a proper cable for that job...Sorry i can't be more specific but from reading your problem all these issues come to mind..If you have ruled all these things out,then it could be the capsule or loose joint or component in the mic which means contact AKG,pro audio services or find a DIY mic person to help..G luck!!

Shure SM2 Headset/Mic wiring


Headset connection: Blue wire to Pin 2, White wire to Pin 1, Yellow wire to Pin 3. Connect Pins 1 & 2.
Microphone connection: Black wire to Pin 3. Red wire to Pin 2. Ground wire to Pin 1.
I am using a male/female 7-pin XLR connector assembly to black box. I am using two 3-pin XLR connectors, one for SM2 microphone function, one for SM2 headset function.

Hi I hope this will help http://www.dvcentral.org/tricks.html Tricks 4 XLR ins: Get the Canon MA-300 adapter and get yourself 4 XLR inputs. Perfect for a couple of wireless lavs, a boom, and another mic. Sure, it's less data for the audio channels, but it's plenty for voice recording. Sure, you can't digitize audio 3&4 easily, but it is possible, and it's just so darn useful to have four audio channels in the field. (Also, you can easily mount the wireless lav receivers right on the back of the camera.) Using the Canon on-camera mic via an XLR input: Say you're using a single boom mic, inputting via XLR 1. You've got XLR 2 doing nothing, and the on-camera mic doing nothing. Seems a waste. Well, all you need to do is adapt the on-camera mic to input through XLR 2. A short female-mini-to-male-XLR adapter will do for the audio signal, but the mic needs power. Simple, just get a short micro-mini extender cable, plug one end on to the mic, and the other into where the mic's connector would normally plug, on the camera's handle. Make sure the mic is switched to stereo, and voila, you have a second XLR mic. Monitoring in the field: Though many people told me it couldn't, the XL H1 downconverts to NTSC on the fly during recording, so you can plug a little monitor or deck into the video and audio out jacks and have yourself a video tap. Perfect for the director who wants to see what's going on through the camera. I used a little DV camera, and recorded it all so we could have a playback tape if needed. Very useful. (Note that the output NTSC is anamorphic, stretching the 16:9 image over the whole 4:3 frame. A monitor with a 16:9 switch is useful, or something that automatically adapts, such as what I used, a Sony PD-100 DVCAM camera.) Native slow motion: In a 24F project, shoot 30F and use Cinema Tools to slow down the footage to 24fps for a slight slow motion effect. Use 1/60 shutter speed for a standard look, or 1/30 for a slightly dreamier feel. Good Luck.
