Question about Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM for Sigma

1 Answer

I have a Sigma SA-300 camera with lenses. Are the lenses compatable with any of the SD digital cameras? Can i use them with the SD9 or SD10 if not the SD14 or 15. I am not sure if the technology of the earlier lenses has been left behind in the digital world. Thanks. Paul

Thanks. I appreciate you getting back to me. I am now legally blind and not able to use the viewfinder on the SA-300. I would like to shoot digital so i can use the screen on the body. I am not able to afford all new lenses so this gives me a chance to get a new body and shoot some pictures. Thanks so much.

Is the Sigma Telephoto 400mm f/5.6 APO AF lens compatible with the Sony alpha camera?

Sigma makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. A lens with a Canon mount, for example, will not fit onto a Sony camera. Assuming you get the Sigma lens with a Sony mount then yes, it will be compatible with the Sony alpha.

Is asigma dl 70x 300 lens compatible with nikon d80

Assuming the Sigma has a Nikon mount, yes. Sigma makes lenses for a variety of cameras, and each camera maker has its own mount. A lens intended for a Canon camera, for example, will not fit onto a Nikon camera.

I have about three lenses that are made by Sigma and are meant to be used on the Sigma SD-14 camera. I would like to know if there's anyway to convert them so that they can be used on the Nikon D-200...

The conversion is not realistically possible, sorry. The SA mount is physically the same as a Pentax K mount but even then has a different flange distance, so even conversion to Pentax would be difficult. The electronics will all be custom made to suit Sigma SA standards.

Even if you had the machine shop skills and technical wizardry needed to convert to a Nikon AF mount, it's unlikely that the lenses would ever be fully compatible and they would be unlikely to work on subsequent Nikon bodies.

It will be cheaper and far more practical to sell what you have "as is" and use the funds towards the purchase of good used Nikon branded lenses.

Can you fit a sigma fit lens onto a nikon f mount camer. i have some great lenses on my old sd 10 but have gone over to nikon cameras

If the lenses were for the Sigma camera, then unfortunately, they will not fit onto a Nikon camera. Sigma makes lenses for various different mounts; the operative word is "different."

Hi, I've got a Sigma SD9 camera that I took to the repair shop 3months ago because the battery cover broke. The repairman keeps telling me he cannot locate this part. Is he BSing me or is this part...

Well, while still perfectly usable, SD9 is not exactly a recent model (introduced in 2002), so I can imagine your repairman might have problems locating parts for it.
I would suggest looking for a broken "donor" camera to get the cover from on ebay, craigslist, etc-it might be faster than trying to locate a new part.
Good luck,

Sigma 70-300 +''no lense attached'' w/ sony a200 dslr

Unfortunately, there are electrical differences between early and later Sigma lenses. Although the bayonet connection is the same, and the lens can fit, it will not necessarily connect electrically with the connections on the camera. Sigma can modify the lens for you, but this can be quite costly, and you may be cheaper to look for an alternative lens.
