Question about Brother MFC 240C All-In-One InkJet Printer

I recently replaced all the LC61 series ink cartridges. I just replaced the magenta as everything was printing green, and magenta read 'low ink'. But even after taking out and reinstalling the cartridges and trying different files to make sure it wasn't a defective file, it is still printing green. Can you please help?

Third place I'm posting this today... This solution worked for me:

This is a simple fix. This printer uses a LIGHT SENSOR to detect if the cartridge is installed properly. Numerous things can allow extra light to enter... your solution is this:

Get electrical tape (duct tape may be too thick) and cover the rear sides of your cartridge; along with the recessed square shaped area that is directly in the center of your cartridge. Cut the tape so that you can cover this area without impeding the shape of the cartridge (so it can still be inserted and removed easily) I have used this solution to repair this exact problem on MFC-665CW when installing a continuous ink supply (in place of the original cartridges) You can actually just tape the internal sensor and close the front cover if you want to test it without any cartridge at all (though its not a good idea to print like that as I"m not sure if it will damage the unit) Those of you wishing to only buy Black ink can attempt this if you dont care about voiding the warranty or possibly breaking the unit... just cover the other slots with electric tape.

36 = Magenta
37 = Yellow
38 = Black


The error indicates an ink stick was jammed. You have to clear the ISC (ink stick count) error.

Turn off the printer.
Turn on the printer.
As soon as you see XEROX start moving across the display hold down the back and help buttons until you see "beginning service mode" on the display.
Release the buttons, it will now come up in the service mode.
Scroll down to the function menu, hit ok, scoll to clear isc fault, hit ok.
Hit the back button to get back to the first menu then exit diagnostics, hit ok when it asks if you want to restart in customer mode.

Trust me, this is the BEST way and the EASIEST way to refill black and color LC61 or LC65 inkjet cartridge from Brother. See the pictures

1. cut the plastic part (see picture). You can use a utility knife or a steak knife (very easy to do)

2. make a hole on the left or right side (NOT in the midle) and do it straight and don't go deep (see picture)

3. poor the ink with your refill kit and do it straight and don't go deep because the inner side of the cartrigde is made of cheap plastic (like a plastic bag) and you don't want to perforate it

4. put your plug, tape, hot glue or what ever you have to seal the hole.

5. put the cartrigde back in your printer, do a print test and that's9d5859a.jpg8c316c6.jpg it !!!

Sounds like the print head is either blocked or defective.
Try cleaning the print head first to see if this clears up the lack of black ink.

Press the "menu" button and then scroll down to the "ink" option and press OK
Now scroll down to "cleaning" and select OK.
Select "Black" and press OK then Black Start.

Repeat this process up to a maximum of 5 times.

If this does not clear it up, try a "purge".

Press "menu" "black start" "0 7 6" in sequence as quickly as possible (within 5 seconds)
All the lights should flash and you will see "cleaning_all" on the screen.
Now press 3 and Black start.

If this still does not work and there is no black, the print head is defective and needs to be replaced.
If you are under warranty, you can check here for a service center.

The colors do not print correctly.everything is blue/green/yellow. the ink cartridges are new. black prints fine. the troubleshooting optin only lets me select to remove lines, it wont let me adjust the...


The magenta cartridge isn't working correctly. This is why you're only getting the other colors (blue is cyan, green is cyan and yellow, and then yellow).

Try removing and reseating the magenta cartridge. If that doesn't work, use a new magenta cartridge (the cartridge itself may have been defective).

I wasn't able to view a manual for this machine, as it's been discontinued and Lexmark no longer offers the PDF on it. If you have a "clean print heads" option, use it. It may require more than one try. If you don't have that option, then all possibilities have been covered.

Have you replaced the magenta ink cartridge? green is a mix of the yellow and cyan, indicating a lack of magenta. If your cartridge is a 3 color, then the magenta is likely empty or the cartridge is defective.

please just your have refling black cartriaged ? If yes
then again refling cartries black and add printer.
and you go printer page and select to B&W and ok select and
aply print.
other no result in black print then you parchase a new black only
cartries and use.

Too much green


Printing too green is a sign of low or no Magenta ink. Might pay to look there. (Green is Cyan and Yellow ink, so Magenta is missing to make Grey/Black)

Sounds like someone might have also managed to mix up an ink cartridge and put it in the wrong slot?

Check that the nozzle patterns for each colour are in the right place on the print out according to the sample in the manual / online. Maybe Magenta is missing altogether?

Prints only green predominently


Without knowing what printer you have or what things you have tried I can only guess here. It sounds like you need a new cartridge. A color ink cartridge will have 3 colors of ink for most printers...cyan (blue), magenta (purplish-maroon), and yellow. Depending on what you print it is very possible that you could run out of one of the inks before the others. Printing green can be an indication that you are out of magenta ink. The cyan and yellow inks will combine and look green.

You can remove the cartridge and run a tissue over the printhead and see if you see all 3 colors as a quick test. If you only see cyan and yellow, then the magenta is probably empty or dried up. If you see all 3 colors I would reinsert the cartridge and try printing again. It is possible that the magenta was just clogged and you cleaned it with the tissue. If it still doesn't print all colors your best bet is probably to just get a new ink cartridge.

The magenta & blue rollers on our Epson Aculaser C900 are printing in stripes.

2. remove magenta and blue, shake them gently HORIZONTALY to evenly distribute the toner inside (the toner container internally has a spade that feeds the toner dust to a spongy roller then to the roller u see on the outside :) )). DON'T HANDLE THE TONER CARTRIDGE VERTICALLY ---ESPECIALLY WHEN U ARE LOW ON INK---
