Question about Philips 60PP9202 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

I have a Philips 60 in. rear projection model# 60PP9020/17F made in sept. '04. There is a green arc across the bottom half of the screen. At the top everything lines up. I tried to use the multi point convergence but that made the bottom half of the screen arc(all colors). I've read a little on this site and seen similar problems and all the answers seem to be convergence kits. Is mine the same thing and how do I tell which ics I have. And where can I find parts for the t.v. Thank You

As you look from the back the chips are on the board on the far left; black and each mounted side by side on metal plates with fins--this model should use 2 of the STK-392-120 CHIPS.

I buy mine on EBAY---select advanced search, search by seller---sewsales55 is the seller I use. This is Suburban Electronics in Maryland (they also have a online catalog) and a pair of the chips should cost under 15 dollars from them.

If this helped, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

You have bad convergence ICs, requires disassembly and soldering to replace, quan (2) stk392-120 can use 150s or stk394-160 also.
they are located on the SSM CBA facing back left side, many delicate cables , torx 10 screws also look for any discolored 6.8ohm resistors near the ICs, usually (2) burnt resistors. most shops charge around $300 for the job done in house. Also will need to check that the yoke aren't loose and tilted (philips had black tape on some). and you may need a fluid change by now on the Blue and green CRTs (a professional job for sure). good luck !

Arcs at the Top and Bottom of the screen!

You will find small 1/2 or 1watt resistors close to the ic's, you must measure them and they must be exact ohms. I believe you'll find a couple open or have changed in value, I hope the new Ic's haven't been fatigued. That should fix your problem.

Warped Picture, Separated colors

Each color (red, green & blue) has an amplifier IC (STK-).
When there is a convergence issue, the first step is change both
IC's for reliability. Then check for open fuses devices, usually
pico fuses.Then re-check convergence alignment.......T.
