Question about Hilti Drills

My hilti te 14 drill seems to be sparking alot from the motor vent ,it also has an electrical burn smell. It is an older drill with alot of use and never been serviced or maintainanced. I am very handy and with the right info. could fix it Thanks Tom

It sounds like the srings that set into the brushes are hiting the communtator. When the brushes wear down to almost nothing the springs that hold pressure to the brushes will start to rub causing these sparks. If not serviced right away the armature will be destroyed as well

Hilti TE14. It rotates slowly and i'm getting a burning smell from the area around the armiture?


I would bet the armature is shot for sure and possibly the field. When an armature shorts out it usually gives off excessive sparking from the brush area. When a field fails it will usually run very slow if at all.

the fan probably exploded and you would need to replace the motor assembly. You can contact HILTI direct at 1-800-879-8000 for parts and breakdowns.

Hilty TE 12 Hammer Drill Wont Hammer, but will run


Parts are no longer available for the TE12. Be carefull if you try to take it apart yourself. Some of the older models had a lead based grease in them

Need brushes for an old style hilti te17


Hilti should be able to provide you with them. If not contact a local motor repair outlet and find brushes the same size, they are very easy to change on the TE series.

Failing that Hilti offers a trade-in program for their tools.

I cant seem to locate a Hilti TE5A battery charger


This must be an older tool but you can try calling 1-800-879-8000 and ask Hilti direct where you can purchase this if it is still available. Good luck
