Question about Microwave Ovens

2 Answers

We have a Saeco Talea Ring Plus, and love it. But ................. sometimes, without any apparent reason, it grinds the coffee and then dispenses the 'dry' grounds without making the coffee and it reads .... ' fill container ' even when the container is full. We took it in for servicing and they could not solve the problem. It is annoying and also a waste of coffee! Have you come across this problem before? What can we do about it? Thanks

I don't know the specifics about the problem, but it sure sounds liike a bad container sensor. It could also be a slightly dirty contact on the switch, making it intermittent, or a connector to the control circuit(s).
I couldn't find this problem reported on the net. You can try to clean any movable parts that might be connected to a switch with electrical contact cleaner, other than that, the unit will have to be disassembled to get to the switches and electrical contacts.
Wish I had an easier answer, but sometimes there just isn't one.
Good luck to you, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

Farberware superfast coffeemaker--how to i stop coffee grains getting into the brewed coffee?

Use a paper filter.
Place the filter under the coffee to be brewed. That will let the coffee through without the grinds.

There is a main switch on the lower left side, as well as a standby switch on the front. Make sure the main switch is on, and the press the power button on the front. It will warm up & be ready to make a cup of coffee (about 30 sec.) when you select one of the coffee (cup) buttons.

It seems withthis model you have a 1 year or 4000 cups warranty with this.
If you are within this, then give them a call - here is the Manual if you don't have it -
MANUAL -

I suggest you start by removing the beans in the hopper and wiping around to remove oils.
Then refill with fresh dry beans.
Plug in and set up as normal
Set to brew a standard large cup - and adjust grinder to coarse setting while grinding.
Do not adjust with grinder quiet - it must be done while rotating.

Make at least 10 cups this way at the coarse setting.

I think what has happened is that damp beans (frozen or cold) have entered the unit and caused the coffee to gum up at the top of the burr.
This will just push fresh beans out of the way instead of starting to grind them.

If you use dry (light loast) beans, it doesn't seem to happen as much.

Just ake sure you refrigerate most of your stocks, but keep a small stock at room temperature in an airtight tin to prevent this kind of thing.

You can actually push down on the bean stack slightly with a wooden object while the grinder is running if nothing moves on the coarse setting to get things moving.
