I don't know the specifics about the problem, but it sure sounds liike a bad container sensor. It could also be a slightly dirty contact on the switch, making it intermittent, or a connector to the control circuit(s).
I couldn't find this problem reported on the net. You can try to clean any movable parts that might be connected to a switch with electrical contact cleaner, other than that, the unit will have to be disassembled to get to the switches and electrical contacts.
Wish I had an easier answer, but sometimes there just isn't one.
