Question about Mitsubishi WD73727 73" HDTV

1 Answer

For the second time in 14 months the bulb has gone out on my tv. The first time I had it replaced and it cost me $500. I have now ordered one and am going to try to replace it myself: 1. Is this a difficult job? 2. Can you give me any help on any problems I may run into? Thanks, Ken

The lamps are consumer replaceable items so easy to do. I would clean the vents at the back of the set and make sure there is good ventilation for the TV. Ventilation is very important for lamp and TV longevity. The other thing you can do to add life to the lamp is make sure the picture settings such as brightness and or contrast are not always as maximum and if there is a picture setting that says "DYNAMIC" turn it off as it places the lamp under more stress. Make sure if you do turn the TV off that you let it set for at least an hour to cool down as turning a set back on while the lamp is hot will shorten then life of a lamp.

I need a bulb replaced in the tv but 280.00 is too high a price for the second time its gone out

That is going to be an average cost. You can probably find a generic, but you will not save much.

Kds60a2000 tv won't switch on red light blinks 6 times if i turn tv on the green light blinks then it goes back to red light this is the power light

Have you tried putting in a new bulb for the screen. Our TV did that and it was the bulb needed replacing. Ours is on the side towards the back. You can order it online, its cheaper than paying a repair man to do it. The first time we did it cost us 500 dollars and then the second time it happened I ordered off ebay for only 170 dollars. Big difference Huh ;) Good Luck

Panasonic PT50LC14 Power issue

We have a PT-50LC14. We replaced the lamp 6 months ago with a TY-LA1000 bulb we bought from a company online (not directly from Panasonic) and it worked for 6 months. Then the TV started turning off on it's own...sometimes it would not come back on for an hour or so. We called the lamp company and we luckily had 1 day left on our 6 month warranty!! They sent us a replacement bulb and the TV would never power on. It would try to power up, but the bulb would never ignite. The power light would flash and then the lamp light would flash every 5 seconds. I had a friend that has the same type of TV and she ordered her bulb directly from Panasonic. I borrowed her lamp and it powered right up. We then called the online company and they sent us yet another replacement bulb, and I tried it today and it works. It seems like these TVs are very particular about the type of bulb used. Next time, we will be ordering ours directly from Panasonic and just paying the extra $100. We have been without our big screen for 2 very long months! I had called a local tv repair shop, called Panasonic directly, and read through countless internet forums, and I thought we were going to have to replace the ballast or get a ballast repair kit and start messing with the circuit board.

How to reset lamp meter

I have a PT-50LCX63 unit. After 5 years and 4 bulbs, a "reset lamp" warning showed up every time I turned on the tv. I have to say that after a few weeks, the message ceased on its own. I don't know if all models eventually reset or turn off, but I could not find any other information on the direct way of resetting. I find the warning a waste of time since the bulbs are good for 10 -14 months. Sadly I missed the class action suit that dealt with the premature lamp failures. I am looking for a new tv at this point. Bulbs have cost me $1200.00 since I bought it. The warning is supposed to allow you the option of replacing the lamp before it fails, Ha! what a joke...Thanks for reading.

TV turned off by itself and now blinks red led 6 times

6 blinks means a low B error. Which is no DD 6volt output on G1 board . This will cause no picture and no sound. To fix this yourself you would need the manual to get the correct sequence to test and proper part to order. You can get a service manual for 10.99 at the following link and they will ask if you'd like it emailed to you after purchase. Here is the link,

Panasonic rear projection TV 47 in PT 47WX49

Camaroguy: This exact problem happened to us about 8 months ago. A board had to be replaced at a cost of $500. Yesterday, the convergence has gone on the set. You get a blue and yellow shadow on the picture. From what I have been reading, this has happened on a few TVs and it will cost another $500 or so. We refuse to pour more money down the drain so we just went out and bought a new plasma (RCA) for half what it cost us for the Panasonic 4 years ago. We have never had a problem with RCA in the past (two tvs for 20 years a piece).
