Question about Cameras
If your computer doesnt have any native drivers for your handycam then YES you need to install the software or the CD that came with your Handy cam.
however in some cases that some PC has a native driver for your handycam all you need to to is to plug the handycam to your PC and it will show you a window if you want to transfer the video/picture or open a folder.
you can try to plug in your handycam and if its not detected then you need to install the software or driver for your device
