Kenmore 110-88752793 washer dryer. Tub filled up for the rinse cycle and then stopped. Tried turning on the dryer and that has no power either. Cycled the circuit breaker. Still nothing. Any ideas?

The circuit that supplies your washer and dryer may also have an in-line GFI outlet which may have tripped. Even though you have cycled the circuit breaker you would also have to reset the GFI outlet as well. Good luck.

How do I check for power to my dryer

You could plug something else, like a lamp, in the wall outlet and see if that gets power.
If the dryer requires a phase connection, that would be harder to test. Then you would need a volt meter to test the power outlet for proper voltage. That's a little dangerous though, unless you have some experience with power line testing.
Hope this helps.

How to fix a dryer wont dry

If it gets hot but won't dry, it will always be some form of blockage in the venting system. That could be a smashed vent hose, lint clog in the hose or the exit opening outside, a bird has built a nest in your outside vent, the hose run is very long before exiting to the outside, etc.
If no heat, could be the element, could be a thermal fuse, could be a burned wire and in VERY RARE cases it can even be the motor even though the dryer comes on and turns.
Sometimes you have a home electrical problem where your 220 outlet is providing power to the motor but not to the element.

Dryer was working fine until I turned off the breaker to work on an electrical outlet on the same circuit. When I was done I turned on the breaker all other outlets worked, I went to use the dryer and...

Hello Steve,

I am a bit confused because the model you selected is for a electric dryer which should have a dedicated outlet/breaker only for the dryer
I am going to assume it's a gas dryer and the trouble is with the outlet,to verify this plug a know working object into the outlet and see if it works
Even if the part in the dryer part that cuts the circuit to the motor if it's bad(thermal fuse) has no bearing on the drum light and that should work if power to dryer

What could cause no power supply to my dryer

Hi,

There are a couple of things...

First check the circuit breaker in your electrical panel....even though it says it is on turn it off and forcefully slam it on again...

Next thing would be to check the wiring in the outlet and plug...these wires can heat up become loose and then not make contact. If the outlet or the plug looks burnt or is brown at all replace both the outlet and the dryer cord....

Next check the wiring at the dryer....same thing... look for brown or burnt wires...replace the wiring as needed....

Make sure to turn off all power before checking anything!!! Electric can be deadly!!!

If all of this check out then the problem is internal in the dryer...of course using an electrical meter can make the job much simpler.... the power can then be checked at each stage...a meter can be purchased at many dept. stores or Walmart for around 20 bucks....
Set the meter for an A/.C voltage setting of greater then 240 volts.... the reading across the two hot lines should be at least 220 volts...be very careful when trying to get these readings on hot wires...

Our Maytag Intellidry PYE4558AYW dryer will not turn on

Check the door interlock switch. If it is defective, the machine will not start. If no help, then there may be trouble in the control panel.

Try another outlet in your home. Or if it is plugged into a surge protector remove it for the surge and plug it directly into another outlet

Dryer trips the GFI

It sounds as though some component in the dryer has a high resistance short to ground. Not enough to burn it up, but enough to allow the current in the hot leg of 120VAC to be greater than the current through the neutral leg.

It is also possible that the ground is a low resistance short to ground. Have you tried to temporarily plug the dryer into a non GFI outlet (use a heavy duty extension cord)? If so, does the breaker for that circuit trip?
DO NOT LEAVE THE APPLIANCE CONNECTED USING AN EXTENSION CORD! THIS IS ONLY TO TEST THE APPLICANCE FOR A HIGH RESISTANCE SHORT.

Either way, I would be suspect of the motor first, and the pilot igniter circuit 2nd. Please provide more information as to what you find in the test above.
