Of course the screen is clean - no dust or deposits, you made sure of that.
I'm assuming that this lowering of the image quality is observable whatever it's displayed from the screen and whatever the source. In that case it appears that either the CCFL tubes or the inverter board powering them are nearing their life's end. In that case you must open the tv and check the voltages on the inverter board, the aged parts (capacitors mainly) will be easy to replace. If the voltages are ok then you will need new tubes - the only way you can find them is to order them at an authorised repair shop or a dealer - take the tv to them.

How do you remove the white areas of a shot from flashing black when you look at the image?

What you're seeing is blown-out highlights. These are areas of your picture where the bright stuff (highlights) have been so overexposed (blown-out) that all detail has been lost. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but usually is. The proper fix is to reduce exposure slightly. Lost details in the dark areas are usually considered more acceptable than lost details in the bright areas.

If you simply don't want to see the blinking black/white parts of your picture, simply press up/down on the multiselector to select a different view of your picture.

Yellow/green blotch appears in light areas

Hi,If there's any discoloration, pixilation or hues on the tv it will be an issue w the light engine's 3 lcd chips. This link explains how the lcd technology works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and picture by blending together all when the light of the lamp goes through them. When they start to melt they will start to show the symptoms. You will need to replace the 3 lcd chips or replace the light engine.Good luck and God bless your house!

Negative effect on Bright areas of Monitor/TV

Try demagitizing the moniter. In the monitor's menu it will have a picture of a magnic , select it. Sometimes it is listed as degrous. After selecting this, your screen will seem to spin then settle. If your still have problems, a magnic may have come close to the moniter while it was being stored, and that will ruin the picture.

I have hooked up my satellite receiver to my Dell 4100m using component cable. The picture seems weak and not very sharp. My computer hookup using a vga cable is bright and very crisp. Is there another...

First, make sure your receiver output is 1080i. This should allow for the best picture with the component cable. If you want it to be the best, switch to the M1 digital input. Note: some 4100 mp might have problems with the M1 input.

good luck

The bulb won't do that. What you're describing sounds like a light tunnel failure.
