Refrig door was not completely shut fof about 24 hrs temp was 50. Makes a loud noise when running and about 8 hrs after discovery has only gone to 46 degree

Listen to sound where is it coming from bottom back? Or inside near back wall . noise could be ice on or around evaporator fan if you can unplug for 12 hours leave doors open this will melt ice . if it is ice that will fix it.

After recent power outages and freezing temperatures in our vacation home the refrigerator portion of our refrigerator stopped cooling, but the freezer still works. Our refrigerator is a 4 year old...

Sounds like one of two problems. Either the fan motor that pushes the cold air from the freezer is not turning (Burned out) or stuck with ice because of an incomplete defrost of frost. Check to make sure the fan is running (any time the fridge is running) if not remove the panel in the freezer and see if there is abuild up of frost or ice around the fan. If you are not comfortable with removing the panel let it defrost with unit unplugged for a 24 hrs with the doors open and try again.

Frezer temp @ -5 ,referagerator @ 47 degrees. how can I get it colder /

determine if freezer fan is running. If not thats the problem.
Remove the back panel in freezer to access the fan.
Check for frost buildup on back bottom of freezer panel
Sometimes this is a auto defrost problem or ice buildup on
freezer coils.
If ice on the freezer coils is restricting air to the ref.
To confirm ice you will need to turn off ref. for 24 hrs and let the ice melt OR remove back panel in the freezer and visually look for ice in the evaporator coils. if it works fine when you turn it on take your mod number to a local Appliance parts store and they will sell and instruct how to fix the Defrost system

Hi!!

Make sure drain hose is not clogged up. Check evaporator fan, (small fan in freezer compartment). it should come on after door is open a couple of minutes. Feel air vents in fridge side for a stream of cold air, if none or too weak, remove back cover (where fan is) and check for frozen evaporator coil. If evaporator is frozen, air can't circulate thru unit, keeping fridge side from cooling and freezer side below freezing point.

If this is the case, unplugg unit from power outlet, and use a heat gun or hair dryer to melt ice, make sure all vents are clear.

Once the evaporator coil is free of ice, dry freezer, replace back cover and plug unit back on. Check temp. settings, should be about 1/3 of the dial range. If necessary, make additional adjustments every 24 hrs.

Don't forget to rate this post!! Good Luck!!!

Temperature in refrigerator is now at 60 degrees even with the dial at setting of 9 other side freezer is fine

sounds like the defrost system is cutting up, it melts the ice in the freezer compartment to allow cold air from freezer to travel to fresh food side and back again, could be a damper control but very rare event.we use to have to melt ice manually in freezers now we have automatic defrosters do it for us. this is not the easiest repair but the defrost sysem is replacable and not the end of your frig.u can empty frig and turn it off for 24 hrs with doors open and let it defrost naturally,so as to make sure that it is a defrostsystem, after 24 hrs turn back on and see if it works correctly after 6 or 8 hrs, if so definite defrost problem.

My bottom refrigerator is not cold. The freezer is okay.

Check to make sure the fan in the freezer compartment is working and not blocked. This delivers the cold air to the refrigerator. The fan should run every time the freezer calls for cold.

Not getting cold

hi..

1)check your cutoff sensor, it is most likely a rod that will push up when the ice bin gets full, make sure its not stuck in the up position...

2) If the tube to the ice maker was not clogged with ice itself that is not your problem. The ice maker is thermally proctected and will not make ice unless the freezer is actually at zero degrees F. Not just frozen. The plastics in a freezer will be soft when warm even easily melt, but be hard when at operating temps. Just try setting your freezer colder to see if it kicks in. Give it at least 24 hrs. Don't do the human nature thing and open it every hour to see if it makes ice. You will just dump the cold air out. Listen for the ice to dump into the tray. I hope this helps..

thank u

Fridge and freezer not getting cold

  • You have 2 fans Make sure your top fan is working ,its located inside the freezers back wall. If it is working the vent from the freezer down to the refrigerator may be blocked. With out a fan you have no circulation .Also if you can move everything out unplug it turn it off w/ doors open 12 to 24 hrs this will free up any clogged tubes. Good luck.

Refrigerator and freezer are warm (Kenmore model 59676509500)

if there is frost on the back wall of the freezer than its iced over (the automatic defrost cycle has failed) turn off the fridge for 18-24 hrs with freezer door open and the ice will melt and it will begin to cool again. It takes a long time for the ice behind the back wall to thouruoghly melt, if it isnt all the way defrosted you will end up with soild ice insead of frost and that will take even longer to thaw Dont forget to rate my solution as solved if I accurately answered your question...Thanks!!
