Try increasing the brightness of the system. Laptops have "Fn" combination buttons that allow you to use some shortcuts. Look for a button on the keyboard that usually looks like a sun or bright object with an arrow pointing up. Press and hold the "Fn" button down and press the designated button to increase brightness.

Hope this helps!

Looks like the backlight of the LCD is going bad. Since it works good with external monitors, and you already tried adjusting the brightness using the Fn keys, there is a big percentage that the backlight is going bad. If the system is still under warranty, try calling Dell. If not, try to look for a local computer shop. It will be quite expensive if you call Dell without any hardware warranty.

I tested the backlight of the LCD and the inverter on an other laptop "same model", both are working well. I even tried to connect an other LCD " with new inverter and new cable" on this laptop and I got the same result, I think it's something wrong with the mother board, not the LCD. what I need to know is what in the mother board can cause this, and how to fix it?

I have a Dell 1525 Inspiron laptop. All of a sudden it DOES boot up, (I can hear the HDD) the LCD display looks lit up, but NO DISPLAY either of boot up or windows. I hooked up an external monitor an

It sounds like your LCD might be bad. The fact that you can see the display on an external monitor tells you that your video card on the motherboard is ok. Is it booting all the way into windows so that you can see the desktop on the external monitor? Take a flash light and look real hard at the LCD on the laptop. Sometimes you might be able to faintly see the same thing you are seeing on the external monitor. If you can faintly see the icons or desktop that means your LCD Inverter is bad. If you see nothing, you screen probably needs to be replaced. I would find another repairman because you don't need to know anything about the bios to replace the lcd monitor. Look on ebay and type in "Dell Inspiron 1525 LCD Screen" . Set the options to "Buy It Now" so that you can only see the items you can buy and not bid on. Also set the Sort By to: "Price + Shipping Lowest First". The first thing you will see are LCD Inverters that can be purchased new for under $10, then you will see used LCD Screens from $50 - $75. A new LCD Screen for your system can be purchased as low as $86.69. Also notice that it shows that the screen will not only fit your dell inspiron 1525, but also the 1501, 1505, 1520 and 1526, so once again it sounds like you need to boot the repairman that says you need to know the bios number. If you need a good hones repairman try: http://www.generalsystemsconsulting.com They will fix it and ship it back to you for less than any quote you get including the shipping. I had a friend that got a quote from HP of almost $400 to replace the screen, they did it for $155

DELL INSPIRON 1525 LAPTOPPOWERS UP BUT SCREEN IS BLACK

Hi,

If you have an external monitor, try connecting the laptop to it, then toggle FN+F8 to project display from lalaptop to external monitor.

If the external monitor does not have a display aswell (totally blank) , then its a problem with the video card.

You can also run an LCD Bist test by turning off the system , then while the system is turned off press D + power , If you dont hear a beep but no display at all, then its an LCD problem.

Hope this helps

Thank you.

Dell 1525 lights flash when power button is pushed but no

Even if the hard drive is bad you should still see the normal bios post screens and then an error message saying "no boot device found" or something similar. If you have a monitor in your home you should attach the vga cable from it onto the vga connection on that laptop. Then turn on the laptop and see if you get a picture on that monitor. If you do then either the laptop lcd inverter is bad or the lcd itself is bad. If you don't get a picture you may have to press a toggle button or buttons on the laptop to switch to the external lcd. Usually this is Fn plus another F button on the top.

Problems with Dell Inspiron 1525 Intel Core 2 Duo T7250. My lcd won't display anything but an external moniter will work when hooked up? Checked all drivers are fine! what to try next?

LCD displays have a florescent light, if doped the light may be broken, further there is a support pc board in the unit that produces the high voltage for the lamp, this may also be at issue check the lamp first because it is the easiest first step, then with a meter you can check to see if the voltage is present at the lamp, if not this pc board can be purchased and replaced

I've got a Dell Inspiron 1525. When I power on the unit, the LCD shows the Dell startup screen, then a whinning noise and the screen goes black. Sometime shortly there after the Windows screen appears but...

This sounds more like a hardware issue. Now you say that the external display output is working fine. It could possibly be a problem with the lcd display itself shorting out. If there was a problem with the video hardware then I do not think you would be able to get the external display working either. The whinning noise could be coming from the lcd inverter.
