Hi,

My iron actually stays off for a period, almost as though there is a short in the wire. It will turn back on only if I move it to a different position.

Check where the wire goes into the iron... move it around there... that is usually where it would break off at...

you did not make the problem very clear in your original post...

Sometimes the wire can be cut off and reattached to the iron again....

Manual for ge 169133 iron

Many GE household product manuals are available here: http://www.gehousewares.com/Product_Search.aspx . Either search by the model number or select Household and Irons in the two drop down menu and click Search. If you use the second option, look for the Auto-shut off iron. The direct link to the English version of the 169133 iron is http://www.gehousewares.com/products/200879151416862.pdf .

I hope this helps.

My iron will not consistently get HOT.

Hi.

The clicking sound is given by the solenoid that turns on and off the iron element. Heating cannot be turned on, and the iron keeps clicking without making any heat.

The cause of the problem can be a defective solenoid, a broken contact, or an open thermistor (it will turn the solenoid back on). The oven must be taken apart and tested to find the fault.

Regards.

Why isn't my Iron heating up? Just finished filling my Krups V65 iron with water. Was ironing linen shirt on linen setting, all of a sudden, heat dropped all the way down to light one (very low heat) and...

I do believe the thermostat is defective. All the iron have a small thermastat top control the temperature and is working like a switch. If the switch don`t work get stuck on the same position.Unfortunatly sometimes is better get a new one themn fix an old one but this is The Market and nothing i can do personally. Also make sure the thermostat knob is working properly. If you hear a click when you turn is ok.
Good Luck
