Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

2 Answers

My computer runs at 64bit utilising Vista Ultimate 64bit edition. I have MS Office installed and use Otlook as mail programme which all works fine but with just one rather annoying habit in that every few days Outlook refuses to be shut down by hitting the 'X' at top right of the screen. The only way I am able to resolve this is to do a system restart following which all returns to normal for perhaps a couple of days.

I tried your suggestion and downloaded 1 Click Maintenance which at first seemed to resolve the problem, alas after only a few days the problem returned.

By the way the download is only free foperiod of 15days!

Thanks for your suggestion, however, I have now received an alternative suggested solution which I plan to try out now.

The most common reason Outlook doesn't close is due to an add-in or program that integrates with Outlook. Once this add-in is disabled or updated or the program is closed the problem will be gone and Outlook will close normally again.

Programs that tend to keep Outlook open are;

  • Fax software
  • Virus scanners
  • Anti-spam filters
  • Synchronization software (for e.g. your PDA or cell phone)
  • Vista Sidebar Gadgets displaying Outlook information
  • Skype (View-> Show Outlook Contacts)
Look in Control Panel - Add/Remove programs to see if any of the above programs are installed.

You don't need to remove the program, but be certain that you close that program after or before closing Outlook or it will keep Outlook open. The program could be listed in your taskbar (bottom of your window, next to the time).

Hope this helps.

OK, this is quite a common problem, not with Outlook specifically, but with all sofware in general. This is usually the result of registry error, hence, the pathway from certain scripts to your central controling unit. In you case, it is the link from the "X" to close the program.

You can download the following maintanace software, this will enable the links to be repaired each time you start your computer. Best of all, it works great, and, it is FREE.

just enter your mail address, to enable the download. Once the download is complete, install it.

After the installation process is complete, you will have a icon on your Desktop, it will say "One click maintanace".

If you run this your problem should be solved. Run the one click maintanace every week or so.

Please do not hesitate to let me koiw if you have any further questions.

Kind regards

Ive just bought a new windows 7 home premium laptop. The problem is that when I do a word document and I save it and put it on my USB, I put it in my windows vista laptop because it is connected to a...

I think this has nothing to do with the Operating System (Windows 7 or Vista). The issue may be because of the different versions of MS Office. As regards, MS Office 2007 files can be opened normally with Office 2007. However, if you wish to open Office 2007 files with Office 2003, you have to install MS Office compatibility Pack, which can be downloaded from Microsoft site.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Run One Copy Of MS OFFICE 2007 on TWO OS'S

This maybe an issue with the installer. I don't think Windows 7 is supported in default mode. But you can run as xp compatibility and it should install fine.

Sure you can. Vista may ask you a confirmation before any software installation (uses to show a darker screen , with a little window in the center , for your confirmation). After that , the install runs normally.
