Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

Why are the sides of my upright freezer hot and the compressor very hot

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand the sides of your Frigidaire freezer are hot and the compressor is very hot. I also see that the drain plug was frozen and the coils had lots of frost, which you defrosted and your freezer began running again. It looks like your freezer quit again and started up, leaving everything hot. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose and determine what exactly is causing your appliance to be hot. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Feezer shut down with hi-temp alarm

Sounds like a defrost problem. Water came from frozen evaporator that thawed after being unplugged. It will operate great until evaporator freezes over again because it's not defrosting. Defrost components are defrost timer or Board, defrost heater, and defrost thermostat. One or more of those components have most likely failed. Also be sure Freezer / evaporator fan is working.

Fridge freezer not working but lights on

Our new 10 day old top frig/bottom freezer stopped freezing, then the top refrigerator stopped cooling, but the light was working and you could hear some motor running and an occasional "clicking" sound. One internet blogger adsvised unpluging the appliance for 1/2 hour. Another advised 2 hours. Then plug in the appliance and see if it started cooling/freezing again. Our experience = nothing. We called the repair folk and the new frig/freezer had a failed compressor and a broken timer!! We were not thrilled. Suprisingly the store we bought the ap[pliance from gave us a $50 gift card to compensate for the lost food. They didn't have to do that - so ask for it; can't hurt.
