Question about Kenmore 60172 Electric Commercial Dryer

1 Answer

Hello- I have a Kenmore dryer #60952990 and the dryer turns but there is not heat. By reserarching other comments, I am assuming it is the heating element. So to be knowledgeable when the repairman comes tomorrow, what do these parts cost? How much time will it take to assess this problem and put in new parts? What other questions should I ask?

My Kenmore elite electric dryer will not heat. I

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. No Heat issue in an electric dryer is usually caused due to three things mainly: Thermal Fuse, Wiring Harness and/or Heating Element. Start with checking the Thermal Fuse which is mounted inside the back cover panel to the exhaust duct and is mounted in white plastic housing. If that’s fine then the Heating Element should be checked. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Dryer has no heat

Hi assuming that this is a gas dryer. you most likely have a bad ignitor. If this is and electric heat dryer you may have a bad heating element.
I hope this helps if you need further assistance please let me know.

Hello,my kenmore dryer wont heat. i am not sure where the fuess are? thank you mike

There are no fuses internal to the dryer, except for a thermal fuse located with the strip heating element.

Let's start with the basics, does the motor turn the drum but the unit just does not heat?

Is this a gas or electric dryer?

Please provide Make and Model number of the dryer.

GAS DRYER WONT STAY HOT

Hello, This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Here is a picture of the coils 57d5263.jpgThis The coils are mounted to the gas safety valve, This should solve your problem. Hope this helps, Please feel free to comment again if you have any further questions or concerns. Good Luck! Mike

Dryer heats and works properly at first then won't keep a high enough heat to get the clothes dry in less than two hours.

Kenmore gas/electric dryer

theordis:

When you say electrical power is working Ok ,I would assume you are saying this because the dryer is tumbling.
Which could mean you are only getting 120 volts to the unit but it will not heat with out 240 volts.

If you are getting 240 volts.
You could have an open thermostat, an open heating element. A bad timer contact or a open switch on the motor.

All these can be tested with a Volt-Ohm meter.

((((The Electrical supply must be turned off and at least one wire dissonnected from the component being tested.
