Laptop cannot find DVD drive.

Probably caused by a windows software update.

I suggest as a first step you run system restore and pick a restore date far enough back to when the the computer did recognise the DVD.

If unsure on how to locate system restore just go to the windows help page.

Laptop doesnt seem to have or recognise a modem and CD / DVD

You possibly have outdated drivers or you need to see if there are updates at the manufactures site.
Reload the drivers.

I need pioneer dvr-215bk dvd rom drivers

dvd roms do not need drivers they are a standard format drive and should be recognised by your pc immediately.

in order to play DVDs you will however need a Software DVD player like WINDVD or POWER DVD

DVD-RWs do not need drivers but may require that the CD burning software that you use may need updating.

ACER 9410CD/DVD-ROM driver not found.

Hi there,
I am assuming you are using XP,

update the drivers via device manager and select the device with the yellow question mark, right click update, reboot and restart

if nothing then remove the device via add/remove programs
select device and remove, reboot and restart

should auto recognise and install the drivers for you,
dont forget to do SP2 updates
Good luck with that,

Let me know how it goes thanks

Unable to burn using a LG GSA H58N DVD burner

With the built in drivers for windows XP it can identify and use DVD-RW facilities of DVD burner. However depending on your bios your machine can fail to burn DVDs if your bios can not recognise that output.

While loading the CD that comes with the DVD-RW did you get an error message if yes then it means you BIOS is failing to recognise your DVD-RW as an output method try to update the BIOS. But before you do that if you can try adding the drive on a modern (after 2002) machine with xp and see if it can burn DVDs there without adding any drivers.

if it fails on that other machine then you can be sure its not your BIOS but a problem with drive (which I suspect most actually). But if it works then then you need to update your machine bios.

I am also having the same dvd rw (pioneer dual layer ) but my dvd rw is not recognised by my os .I am using win xp sp2 .It was working well a month ago then it was sometimes recognisable and sometimes not...

Try going to Pioneer's website and see if there are any "firmware or driver" updates issued. See if your model is listed. Many problems can simply be solved by making sure your hardware has the current updates. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/hs/pioneer.html
