Question about Lands Phones

1 Answer

Trying to replace a stand alone answering machine on our Lucent 18D (and 34D PARTNER advanced Release 1.0) phone system. We have had one for years with no issues. We have tried a couple of brands - both work just fine on the stand-alone fax line, but when we put it on the system line it doesn't seem to hear the rings.

we have already done this and it is set on Immediate ring, but it still doesn't recognize it what should we try next?

  • deb_kobelan Sep 09, 2010

it is set on immediate ring and when we plug a phone into the port it functions properly, but for some reason it doesn't recognize the answering machine - any ideas?

  • deb_kobelan Sep 10, 2010

tried multiple ports the only one it seems to work with is port 11 and it wont allow the phone to loop with it. do you have any other suggestions?

Thank you for your help! If we wanted to replace the ACS and the R8 whom do we contact? Also (sorry for the stupid question) but what is the R8? I assume the ACS is the operating software - is it easy to install the upgrade?

A Partner ACS version ONE???? Wow. O.K. What happens when you dial the extension you plugged the ansering machine into? I assume it's a port on the switch, so it has an extension number of 11-17 (there has to be a system phone in ext 10).

If you get it to answer internally, then you must have lost programming on the port. If you don't have a manual, get it here.
From memory, that is changed in Centralized programming and you get there from the display phone (34D) on extension 10 by pressing FEATURE 00 LIC LIC RIC and dial the extension the answering machine is on. Your line lights will be blinking or solid, depending on what the ring status is. If you press it, the line will switch to another of the 3 states. Keep pressing it until what you want (immediate ring) is in the display.

If you search the manual for Line Ringing, you will be able to read more about the feature and possibly what may have changed.

Yeah. Try plugging the answering machine into a different port. The ring generator for single line sets may be defective for the whole system, or just the port. Since a system phone works in the port, you'll either have to repair or replace the ACS, or change answering machine ports. Repair is not expensive, ie less than $200, but an ACS 3 or 4 is probably not much more.

I already said it...."repair or replace the ACS". A 4.0 box is about $325, an R8 is about $600. The nicest part of the 8.0 is it will pass caller-ID to a single line set. It's fairly redundant to repair a 1.0 processor.

Lucent Partner 18D cant fully reboot itself

That one doesn't sound too good.
You could perform a reset through programming which should clear the scratch pad.
Thats done by entering programming on either ext. 10 or 11
Press feature 00 then the left hand intercom twice.
Next enter # 728, the display should say reset save all then reboot the system. If the problem is still there, then the processor is malfunctioning and will need to be replaced.

Lucent Partner 18D - Caller ID not working

The caller id information is sent from your local telco provider after the first ring and might not be able to be extended to the individual sets, try backing off the ring to answer on your voice mail from 2 to 3 rings to see if the information is then passed on. The Voice Messaging System message is being sent from the system showing who transfered the call to you. You should also notice that the ring pattern when that message is displayed is a standard ring followed by a beep meaning a transfer is taking place.

Lucent Partner 34D phone system with 18D extensions

That doesn't sound good at all. I would first try powering down the system and waiting about 15 seconds or so before powering back up. If the problem remains, the processor was some how damagedand would be best if it was looked at by your vendor.

Ayaya Lucent Partner 18D Cordless call waiting.

The cordless will not work that way. If you hit flash, that will put calls on hold, etc....

The only thing you can do is have the flash button on the 18D itself.

The voicemail system on our 18D phones leaves the messages all jumbled and full of do we fix that?

Which voicemail do you have? If it is the Partner Mail VS, or the stand alone Partner Mail, then it sounds like the hard drive is going bad. I would buy a new voicemail before this one dies.
