Question about Comfort Zone Heating & Cooling

I have an AO5 error code when I turn on the Comfort zone 1500 electric infrared heater. What's the problem?

It was unplugged for several days. There is a regular clicking sound when plugged in, like a relay clicking on and off--along with the A05 error message.

  • mnisly Sep 10, 2010

No one answers the phone number you gave me, and the voicemail box is full there. I am very capable of changing an electrical component if I know which one it is, and if I can get a replacement part. Any help to narrow it down would be appreciated. I live in a pretty remote area of Northwestern Ontario, so it's not easy to get it to a service centre.

What is A05

Posted on Sep 10, 2010

  • Lee Kreuzer Dec 26, 2011

A05 is the PROGRAMING of the board. This should appear when the unit has been energized. The fix to your problem can be repaired in my electronic lab. I have been repairing these units ever since they were on the market. If the unit flashes the A05 code or something that can't be read it is time for repair. The repair costs $50 if you can drop of the unit in the western New York area. $75 if the unit has to be shipped to me. Don't worry too much that your heater doesn't operate the fix solves that problem. This has been happening to these units since they made them. Contact me at leekreuzer@yahoo.com

This indicates a power fault inside the actual heater. Have you tried unplugging the heater, letting it sit for a good 2 minutes, and replugging it back in? If the problem persists you will unfortunately need a repair. Please let me know if you need more information on this. You can also contact comfort zone, the manufacturer, located in Canada, at 780-420-6572.

Thanks so much for the question,

Tim

Ah yes, unfortunately that is a fairly major electrical issue and there is no easy repair. Are you very confident in your electrical skills, it is very dangerous to try and repair a heater if you've never done it before. You may be able to get it working but risk it getting too hot and catching on fire.... :/

Please let me know, my personal recommendation is to contact Comfort Zone and see if it is still under warranty. Then from there, if it is not, I would contact a repair shop in your area. If you need help locating one please let me know (along with your zip code) and I will find one for you.

    Thanks
    Tim

Tim, the number listed has a gal answering with a last name so I don't think this is the correct company phone number? Why do you think finding this company is so difficult, typing their name into search just keeps giving other websites?

I have a Comfort Zone CZ1500W showing an AO5 error code. I have 9 ohms across each element. The fan thermostat reads open. When I bypass it the fan runs, but no heat. The element thermostat reads

Everytime I turn on the CZ heater, the display reads A05 and then it goes away when i set the temp. As far as I can see and feel, I'm not experiencing any issues with the heating, fan, or thermostat or the extension cord running hot. I'm concerned that something could be wrong or unsafe, with Comfort Zone filing for Chapter 7, anyone know who is offering support or a number I can contact?

Hi. I have the Comfort zone 1500 (cz 1500) and just ran into this AO5 problem. Turns out the thermostat was set lower than the actual room temperature. I just turned up the heater temp and it kicked right on. Hope this helps!
