You have to add or change some jumpers on the motherboard (if it is the same issue i had with this board

See section 2.9 in the Product Specification
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d865gbf/sb/CS-027148.htm

and the Spec Updates.

It worked for me when I jumped pins 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 and 9&10 at J9A2.

In compac presario v3000 laptop sound is not working shows no sound card but all icons of sound in device manager are ok like audio codec, legacy, etc. now what is the problem?

Hello, I've a Compaq NC6000 laptop, and that doesn't show a soundcard either, aswell as the Audio Codecs and Legacy Audio Drivers, it shows a 'SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio'. There's an audio mute switch on the front panel, next to the vol up/down switches on mine. Have you taken a look at the hp support pages for your laptop? If not, try www.hp.com/support and answer the country question. Has it ever worked? If you've recently reinstalled the OS maybe you need to install the chipset drivers, etc....they're also available to download from the support website. Regards, nicam49

You can download PCWizard and detect the type of hardware in it, and corresponding compatible drivers can be installed to make the sound card work (may be Realtek or Soundmax), if above doesnt work refer to the hardware technician

My sound card has been deleted from my computer!

Sounds like the sound card died, it's not unheard of. Plug it into another computer and see if it's recognized.

Can't configure audio on my new Asus P5QL motherboard

There should've been something on your ASUS CD that included the SoundMax driver. Without that you won't get audio. You might need to reinstall your CD again making sure you have installed the Soundmax driver. If you can't find it, look for Soundmax on the Internet. If the Soundmax card is properly installed you will see a little blue square on your bottom right task bar. If you click on the little arrow, you can adjust the sound volume. It also contains a wizard to help you diagnose problems.

Oh, you will need to make sure your virus programs are turned off before installing that program as well.
