SOURCE: My Wacom Intuos3 tablet won't switch into pen mode

I had the same problem with my Intuos3 on Vista. Tech support suggested the following.

Do this.....Go to Start--->control panel---->system(in classic view)---->device manager--->click on "human interface devices"--->then click on "Wacom virtual HID driver" and right click on that and disable it. Your computer will ask you to restart and you will want to do that.

Everything works fine now.

SOURCE: My Wacom Intuos3 tablet won't switch into pen mode

The winning answer came courtesy of Mr Benedikt Schmitt of Wacom Europe, who offered the following solution: from the Windows Device Manager, disable the “Wacom Virtual Hid Driver” device. (Go to Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Device Manager, find the driver, right-click it and choose “Disable”.) One reboot later (welcome to Windows-land, circa 2008?), everything works as desired. Pressure and tilt sensitivity inside Photoshop still work, and the pen functions just fine in the rest of the Windows desktop. The absolute mapping makes it an absolute pleasure to point quickly and precisely. It makes my laser mouse feel rather clumsy navigating a large 24′ screen!

SOURCE: my wacom pen does not work at all, the mouse on

on some older pens, the barrel can spin out of position. If your barrel turns, it can mess up it's function.

Turn the barrel until you hear or feel a clicking into position and try again.

If that doesn't work, move wacom cable to a different usb port. worse case, replace pen.

SOURCE: Wacom tablet stopped working, blue light on.

Hey I had this problem too with my Bamboo too, I'm not sure if it was anything I changed or whatever but either way the blue light was on but it wasn't registering the pen.

I found a way just minutes ago to fix it however!

Go into 'start', 'all programs', then look for 'pen tablet'. Hopefully you should have this. If not then download the latest driver for your tablet from the wacom website and that should install it.

Next choose 'pen tablet preference file utilty'. Then under 'my preferences' choose to remove. Bingo! All was well in the world again.

This worked for me so hopefully it will for some of you guys too! Good luck!

I'm getting the same problem - for some reason it's removed all pen pressure sensitivity recognition from the tablet. I'm going to try re-installing the drivers tonight, I'll get back to you if I figure it out.

Have the graphire 3 tablet, Not working well.

Wacom tablet not plugged into your computer with the USB cable.

Go to Add/Remove Programs, (Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs), and -> Remove
the Wacom software.

Restart your computer.
After Windows XP has fully loaded again, install the Wacom Graphire 3 CD, in your CD/DVD drive. Reinstall the software.

If you had to reinstall your Windows XP operating system, you may have corrupted some of the Wacom tablet's drivers. (Hence the shaky stylus cursor) Removing the Wacom software, and reinstalling it will repair.

Now plug the Wacom tablet into your computer.
You should see the, "Found New Hardware", pop-up out of your taskbar tray.

Wacom Intuos3 stopped working when I upgraded to Leopard

I did solve it myself. Having downloaded the new drivers off the Wacom website, I hadn't realised they were still sitting on my desktop waiting to be installed. Once I found the folder and opened and installed it everything worked fine!

Wacom tablet stopped working, blue light on.

Since you are running Windows Vista on your PC this is the driver you should have downloaded.

Serial cables are not hot swappable. The computer and tablet should be turned off before you plug them in.

Serial to usb wacom tablet problem

I just got Vista and it killed my Intuos2 w/serial to usb also, but here's a half solution:
Download Wacom driver 4.78-6 http://www.wacom-europe.com/int/downloads/driver/driver.asp?lang=en. Make sure you remove any other Wacom drivers, tablet, and reboot. Install 4.78-6 driver and select serial port when the choice pops up. Plug in your tablet with the serial to usb adapter, wait a few seconds and click retry. Complete the install and reboot.
Your Wacom tracking should work now, but certain things might not work like pressure sensitivity and you'll get annoying error "reinstall driver" pop-ups.

I think you can aslo buy a PCI-serial card for your computer and skip the serial-usb adapter since Vista doesn't support the adapter for Wacom tablets.. but I'm not sure if there's a working Vista serial Wacom driver either.. or ever will be. The age of XP and Legacy support is at an end my friends.
