I recently purched a 1998 lexus ES300. The Cd player will only play purchased cd's and not those that I burn. Can this be overcome. Also there is a grinding or rubbing noise when I turn, which is worse when it is from a stop. It has been uo on a lift, and mechanics are baffled!

Something inside the cd player has broken and can most likely be sent off for repair but I don't know how much that would cost, but a new one can range anywhere from $500-$1,000.
dear,
I have different experiance with the C.Dplayer ( error 3 ) , there is no need to remove it nor send it to the dealer ,all you have to do when you have `` Error 3 `` is to reset the C.D player , by recycling the power supply ,this can be done by disconnecting the main car battery power supply , you must also keep the battery disconnected for at least one hour . then connect the cables to the batteries ,when you start the C.D player you will hear some clicking sound ,and watch the numbers of the C.D`s in the display you will find all what is inside has been detected by the display .
and your C.D player is back to normal..
i discovered ths by chance , when I had this error in the past ,coincidently I had to replace the battery and after installing the new batteries ,i was suprised to see the player back to normal condition by its self.
may be you pressed a random button on CD player and it automatically plays music random There is some options on CD player- - if you want specific song play over and over again (it shoud say repete) just check with those options and see which one is ON
