This sometimes happens when the door is traveling just a bit too far downward, hits the floor and the safety causes it to reverse and open. Locate the 'down limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn it just a little in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking may be necessary to get it just right.

We have the same problem with our garage door but don't feel the solution 1 is it as the door will have been down for 3 hours and then it will go up by itself. We go back and put it down, it is down for an hour or more, and goes back up.

Could be the logic board is going out. Also check all of the garage door opener remotes and make sure that is not the cause. Some people will keep and extra remote in a drawer and something will touch it and activate the garage door opener. Or sometimes people keep the remote in the drink holder in a vehicle and that will activate the garage door opener.

Door open sensor trips and alarm sounds

It's either the sensor itself or the wiring from the sensor to wherever it goes. I would start by swapping the two rear sensors and see if the fault moves to the other side. If not it's the wiring which you will need to trace and check all connectors involved.

Make sure it isn't the wiring to the wall console by removing the connection at terminal #1 on the end of the motor unit. Staples used in installation can cut through the insulation and cause this problem.

Last weekend I installed a new craftsman garage door opener. Twice now the garage door has opened on its own. The first time, I thought it might have been activated by one of my neighbor's remotes, but...

There may be an electronic short in either the wall control button or the receiver logic board. In this case, remove the wall control wires from terminals 1 and 2 on the motor unit. Should the symptoms persist after the wires are removed, replace the receiver logic board. If the symptoms stop with the wall control wires removed from the motor unit, replace the wall control button or the wires leading to the wall control button.

Make sure none of the staples have cut through the wires leading to the wall control.

You didn't do anything wrong. Electronic components sometime become sensitive to temperature. It may require a new logic board.

If you are referring to the LED on the back of the motor unit flashing 4 times, that is the code for door sensors misaligned. Check to make sure the small light on each sensor is lit and not flickering ever so slightly. The flickering is sometimes very hard to see but it will cause the problem you are describing.

Garage door keeps opening automatically after code change

Changing the code on your keypad wouldn't cause this problem. It is most likely a bad wall control or the wiring going to it. You can eliminate both possibilities by removing the wire from terminal #1 on the rear of the motor unit. I would do that for a night or two just to see. You can then go further to eliminate the wiring or the wall control. If you replace the wire on terminal #1 and then remove the wires from the back of the wall control you will see if it is the wiring. The staples used during installation sometimes cuts through the insulation and cause this problem. The wall control just goes bad.

We have a 3/4 hp Craftsman garage door opener that has stopped working. It opened fine, but will not close. The lights on the unit work but the Training Light is blinking.

If by training light you mean the LED next to the smart/learn button then this is normal if it is random blinking. Make sure your door sensors are properly aligned and pointing at one another. Each of them has a small light that should be lit and not blinking when they are aligned.

Door won't open

Unfortunately storms do bad things so door openers sometimes. It has most likely gotten to your logic board. You can remove that board and look for burnt or missing traces of the print. Random flashing of that LED is normal.
