I have the 5022 module... It appears to have simply stopped. It receives light daily. None of the buttons seem to have any effect.

Hi mdcc2000,

No one seems to want to take a stab at this problem, possibly fearing a low rating from users with these problems. This is just a suggestion or two...anyway.

I presume you have the manual for your watch/module #5022. If not download it from here:
http://ftp.casio.co.jp/pub/world_manual/wat/en/qw5022.pdf

I've talked with Techs from Casio and Citizen before, who have encountered problem similar to this. Usually it was a case of no display, and needing a good "kickstart" of bright light for several minutes to start the movement (even with a new battery sometimes). From your statement, I presume you have no movement of the analog hands at all.

I don't know the age of your watch, but it may needs a change of the rechargeable battery, and recycled back to factory status. It would probably be best for Casio or an authorized service center to do this. If you or someone else is going to attempt a battery change, try grounding across the positive and negative battery terminals for about 30 seconds before the new battery is installed. Make sure you are grounded as well, so as not to induce static electricity into the watch circuitry. This should help clear the memory and remove any lockups of the processor.

We've all seen our pcs and laptops lockup and require a clean reboot...many times. So, it seems this can happen to small electronic devices using battery power also.

Contact Casio at these numbers for further help:

I'm only going to share the details of my experience with fixya.comconsulting services and not my opinion. Fixya keeps a daily record of how much money is earned by its experts located on the account activity page of each experts profile. At the experts desire, they may quickly see how much money is gained from one day to the next day. Before joining the fixya consulting team, I understood according to the expert agreement I could provide either free or charged fees advice. Fixya sent me documentation that I would not be paid till after 60 days of continued supp0rt. At this time, I have 110 days of support with the company and have not seen a single penny in my account. I send emails, mail correspondence, phone calls, and the company states that I never existed as providing support on their site. Needless to say, I kept daily print outs of each problem solved. I solved over 1500 paid and none paid questions. Fixya charged each customer an average of 5
dollars per question so that means they charged 1500x5 = $7,500 to paying customers and never sent me a dime for my work. I have proof of the work I did as I already know they actively delete expert accounts and simply state they never worked for fixya. I have teamed up with 10 other experts who have experienced the same issue with the company for a combined lawsuit. Should you wish to join, simply google this message on the web.
Thanks Fixya, your honesty is very much appreciated

The digital functions and display stopped working but the hour and minute hands seem to work fine as does the back light button. Are there two separate batteries for the two functions? Who can repair...

If you recently bought the watch warranty should be in place, the problem is in the electronic timing module, part of the module has failed. I suggest taking it back to where you bought it and if under warranty they should repair or exchange the product.

On the casio a158w how do I turn off the hourly chime? Thank-you

Hi Ms. Sophie Desro,

If the alarm has sounded, press "A" (top left-hand button) to stop the sound.
To switch the Daily and Hourly Time Signal on and off:
Press "C" (lower right-hand button) while in alarm mode in sequence:
a. }}}} + BELL = Both alarms on.
b. Display Blank = Both OFF.
c. }}}} = Daily alarm on only.
d. BELL = Hourly Time Signal on only.

Test the alarm by holding down "C" to sound the alarm.
Please note b. and c. to turn off the alarms.

For more information, Casio has an Operational Chart for your watch, Module QW-1275. You may download a PDF file here:

Try this and let me know if this works. Thanks.

Vivani watch has multiple dials and buttons but no response

Yeah I have the same kind of watch. The three small dials are ornamental and nothing more (this is obvious because their denominations are 60, 60, and 24, instead of something useful like 1-12 month, 1-31 for date, and 7 days of week). The extra two spring buttons are probably the same... nothing but ornamental. You could verify this by taking the back off the watch and seeing for yourself that they probably press nothing at all. Are simply there for maybe some other design where the case is uses,to illuminate the dial or other thing not on the watch. Vivani watches seem to be simple watches that are very ornamental and pretty (i.e., dress watches on the cheap) but completely lacking in features at all.).

Solution #2 by Guest, posted on May 13, 2008 solved my problem. OUTSTANDING solution #2!

1. Hold in the MODE button until the alarm time appears.

2. VERY IMPORTANT - release and TAP the MODE button AGAIN, and the time should appear with the seconds flashing.

3. Use StART/Stop to choose among seconds, hours, and minutes, and

4. Use ADJUST to increase the selected number

5. Press MODE to put the thing back in regular operational mode.

After several attempts with other directions over the last four months, these 5 steps WORKED.

I used the online CASIO web site to locate the appropriate manual and followed directions. Use the bottom left (C) button of the watch to keep pressing between the various modes until I was in the ALARM Mode. Then PRESS the upper right (B) button to toggle the DAILY ALARM and HOURLY CHIME to "OFF", "DAILY", "HOURLY" and "BOTH" on/off.
