Question about Kenwood Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a Kenwood VR-8070 and I have a problem when I turn the receiver off for a few minutes and want to turn it back on. Everything comes on but no sound comes out of the speakers. This problem never happened a couple of years ago. Could it be a reset circuit in a big CPU circuit? Could it be an overheating problem?

Well I forgot to mention that if I wait a few minutes with the unit off then it operates just fine when I turn it back on. I believe this could be a small circuit in the main cpu just acting up because a year ago this problem did not happen. I could just turn it off then turn it back on and everything would work fine. Sometimes I'm listening to the radio and I don't want to listen to all of the local news and commercials so I would just turn it off. Before when I turned it back on everything worked fine.....Would the answer be just to leave it on and use the 'mute' button? I don't want the problem to rest in overheating or circuit problem but the unit is several years old. I don't want to cause any damage but I still am not sure what causing the unit to not play audio when I turn it back on......Please reply and

    Thanks a Bunch

Hello.
Try to switch it back off.
Unplug it from the main switch.
Then wait after a few minutes, set it back on.
Check the whether the f/m is working properly with the sound.

I have a kenwood vr-505 receiver that has a content buzzing through the speakers. I have unplugged everything and hooked it all back up but the buzzing still persists. Is it fixable?

is the buzzing constant frequency

or is it a hum like 50 or 60HZ mains
if its a buzzing like zzzxzxzxzzzzzzzzzz this is a bad connection in the mains and i would turn everything off
and get your supply checked out

yes it very much has everything to with it. your sub out is at a pre-amp lvl, so you can route that signal to another amp, then to your passive sub, or get a powered sub

Your TV is NOT an audio source by itself. It's job is to make pretty visual stimulus for your eyes, not your ears. Everything IT hears comes from somewhere else like a DVD, BluRay, Cable Box, right?

Get the absolute best TV-related audio directly from the digital audio outputs of each source you're watching, not the TV.

Receiver shuts off on its own

A very common issue with receivers turning themselves off derives from a power overload caused by shorting across the speaker wires. Check each wire to make sure there are no breaks and that the ends of the wires are cleanly separated (no errant strands accidentally touching between positive and negative) at both the receiver end and the speaker end. One easy way to test it is to just use different wires and see if it happens anymore. Another unlikely possibility is that the receiver may be set to a different resistance setting than your speakers (say, 4 ohm instead of 8 ohm)--though modern receivers tend to have internal ways of recognizing and dealing with that.

Kenwood VR-209 turns off after 20 minutes

Overheating is likely your root cause. Move the unit to make sure it is getting enough air around it and remove anything that you have sitting on top of it ESPECIALLY any device that produces heat of it's own such as your CD player. If that does not solve the problem, listen at a lower volume and/or defeat any equalization or bass enhancement circuitry.

Kenwood VR-209 Still does not work after the speakers are unplugged.

I have a VR205 with the same problem. I can make it stay on by doing this: as soon as the display lights up turn off the power and then turn it back on quickly. Do this 3 or 4 times. Mine usually stays on after this....the relays latch and all is well I suspect one of the step-start relays as I have checked everything else out and all is in order and the receiver works fine. I would love to find a shop manual for this series of receivers. Anyone know where such an animal exists?

Kenwood VR-209 Receiver doesnt stay on

The power transformer is bad. Part # L07-2485-05 it costs about $ 85 bucks to replace it. It is the big one.
