Question about Hotpoint Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

Hi, We were given a gas stove (HotPoint RGB524) and we converted it from natural gas to LP. We have one little problem with the flame on one of the top burner pilot. The flame is so high that it touches the metal. We are trying to figure out how to adjust it. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Brenda

This web site shows you the pilot adjustment acrew on a typical gas oven:
http://home.howstuffworks.com/how-to-repair-an-oven6.htm
Go to this site and select your full model number and you will get a neat page that has the diagrams and parts lists for your model, should you need them:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/modelsearch.aspx?model=RGB524
Hopefully, it's just an adjustment.
Good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

The pressure regulator or is it gas regulator I'm nor sure. on my Americana gas stove has NAT. 4.0" LP 10.0" written on it. What does that mean?

Natural Gas pressure is to be regulated at 4.0 inches of mercury and Liquid Petrolium Cas at 10.0 inches of mercury pressure.

Hi! I am converting my Maytag oven to propane from natural gas. I've flipped the cap at the main (n to lp) and snugged down all the orifices at the four burners, so far so good. But I am not sure if the...

Hi Kim,
First of all, read and follow all the safety instructions in your installation and operations booklets.
If Maytag recommend that only a certified gas fitter should do this conversion, then follow the advice.
If you are a certified gas fitter you would know the answer.
There are too many variables to take into account for this type of conversion like altitude, propane pressure regulation, age and wear of the stove, state of repair of all supply pipework, proximity to open flames in the area like water heater pilot lights. Leaking propane is heavier than air and will collect at the lowest part of the home like the basement where the open flames might be.
So my best advice is to ask a certified/ticketted gas fitter to do the job or check what you have done and ensure that everything complies with all local codes.
"If in doubt don't" is great kindergarten advice for everything which is potentially risky.
I hope this helps,
jenni.

Stove won't stay lit!!

So, you cleaned the burner per the manual (or the one you looked at when visiting the appliance store,) and it still flames out right after coming on? Sometimes things catch in the works and there are a few methods to clear them out (e.g. at the controls) depending on the model. Beyond that,in order to disconnect the stove and check the inlet filters, you might want to call the appliance or gas co for a technician. No use having leaks, searching forever for the main shutoff valve, etc.
