The person I am speaking with does not hear me (He is deaf).
The microphone function does not appear to be working. I have adjusted the volume and that's not the problem (You must speak as well).
I have plugged both jacks (microphone and speaker) into my PC hard drive and am using my PC to talk on Skype (You cant plug even a single jack in the hard drive).
Problem solved!

Yes you can, but don't turn up the speakers to high as it will give feedback to the person you are talking to and affect the ability to hear you clearly.
