Question about Microwave Ovens

2 Answers

I have a Briel Espresso machine and the espresso is not working. Coffee machine works and the Espresso area shoots hot water and steam but only hums when I'm trying to make expresso. It worked fine until I put vinegar in it last night and ran the espresso numerous times with water to clear the vinegar smell, now it only hums.

Not sure why this says "Problem with Microwave Ovens" .... My issue obviously is with an Coffee/Espresso Machine

  • terricatlett Sep 08, 2010

yes, I've unscrewed the filter previously (a long time ago and had forgotten about that, it's also listed in the manual). Any tips for getting the large brass screw unscrewed? I just tried it (and then remembered from the past how hard it was) and it's extremely tight and "strips" very easily every time we try, even with a large flathead screwdriver. I really like this machine ($599), espresso is the best I've ever had, extremely creamy, I've tried several other machines, some cheaper and some much more expensive. thank you

  • terricatlett Sep 08, 2010

if necessary, do you know how I can send it into Briel for "repair" hopefully we can get it unscrewed and this won't be necessary, but just in case

  • terricatlett Sep 12, 2010

thank you ... tried all these with the screw. still has become stripped. terrible design. have my handyman still working on getting it off and IF we can then I'll contact Briel since I'll need a new screw. Please tell me again what better machine you recommended. I've had 3 Briels .... love the creaminess of the espresso better than any other of the several machines I've tried, but you're right about the durability, it sucks. thank you again.

To get the nut opened you will need the exact tool. You can get the exact tool from local part store. But if the nut is too tight to remove then, apply WD-40 spray on the sides of the screw. The screw gets tight due to rust gets collected in its side. The WD-40 spray dilutes the rust on the sides of the nuts/screws and make the procedure simple to release the screw/nut.But spray the liquid on the side of the nut and let it remain there for few minutes then try if same problem then spray some liquid and try after few minutes. In 2 or three tries it will get release by the screw driver.-------------- For help from Briel:---How Do You Get Service?

Here's a quote from Amazon.com:
The best part about this machine is its ability to turn out excellent expresso shots thanks to a nice little pump unit, perfect temperature regulation, and nicely engineered parts (some, not all!). The worst part is that underneath that gleaming exterior, its nothing more than a collection of rather tiny (and quite fragile) plastic parts, electric connections, a pump, and a brass boiler. Don't open it up - it will destroy the illusion that you own a real Italian coffee machine!!!

Buy this if you want to turn out excellent coffees and don't want to spend more than $250...this year. Buy something with a lot more quality engineered inside if you plan on using your machine for more than twelve months.

By the way, I read all of those positive reviews before I bought my Cadiz. A year later I'm seeing a lot of negatives that weren't there a year ago. I say...buyer beware!!!

This person from Amazon reviews kept her expresso working with this trick:
One trick I learned about maintenance: after the first 6 months, I noticed a big degradation in the quality of the espresso and the crema. I tried a few things -- won't detail them all here -- but the solution turned out to be unscrewing the screw that secures the brew head screen, then pulling the screen and out and cleaning it. The screen holes are TINY -- the best way I found to clean them was by using a sewing needle and painstakingly pushing the residue out of each hole. It takes 15-20 minutes to do this. But VOILA! When I reassembled it, the espresso was back to its rich, foamy perfection!

Here's the web page for the reviews:
http://www.amazon.com/Briel-LExpresso-Automatic-Espresso-Machine/product-reviews/B00005AXJA/ref=cm_cr_dp_all_helpful?ie=UTF8&coliid=&showViewpoints=1&colid=&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending

Overall, the reviews weren't good. Hopefully, you will have better luck, as a few did.
Thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

Lost directions - how to descale keurig ?

Hello, Here is a tip i wrote, see if this helps you.

Have you ever wondered, 'how do I descale my expresso machine?' First lets us understand what is exactly is scaling. The build up of minerals inside the hot parts of your coffee machine or espresso machine is commonly called lime scale. When lime scale builds up inside the Espresso machine, it slows down the water flow, reduces the boiler capacity and can prevent your coffee machine from working properly. To keep your Espresso machine operational at full order, it is important to descale it every three months. The time intervals between descaling depend upon many factors. Quality of your water and the amount of water running through the machine are the two main factors that decide the frequency at which you should descale your Espresso machine. The more you your machine, more often should you descale it. In some cities, in conjunction with a water filter you can use your coffee machine for a year or more without descaling at all. If you use less water by drinking espressos you'll need to descale less often than if you make cappuccinos.

Descaling products are widely available from stores that sell coffeemakers and espresso machines. Be sure that the product you buy to descale your Espresso machine is intended for this specific use only. Before you descale your Espresso machine, always unplug it and make sure that it is cold. Also, never immerse the appliance in water and nor should you use abrasive cleaning products or scouring materials on any part of your Expresso machine. In case your Espresso machine does not come with a instruction guide or booklet, then use a proper citric acid based descaling solution designed for espresso machines. This should be mixed and prepared as per the instructions on the bottle or packet. Once your Espresso machine has been descaled properly you would not be left wondering, 'how do I descale my expresso machine?', treat yourself to a great cup of coffee. Some popular models of Espresso machines are Krups EA8080 Espresseria Automatic, DeLonghi Magnifica EAM3200S, Krups Nespresso CitiZ & Milk XN 7106 Fire-engine red, DeLonghi Perfecta ESAM5400, DeLonghi PrimaDonna ESAM6600, DeLonghi Magnifica ESAM4200S, DeLonghi Perfecta ESAM5500 and Magimix Nespresso Citiz M190.

We have a 12 cup Mr. Coffee about a year old. We put 4 scoops of coffee in and the appropriate amount of water. Every day, the filter overflows and grains of coffee get into the pot. How do we keep this...

Because I own a espresso company,I believe I can help you. There is several things that can cause a coffee machine to over flow. 1, putting to much coffee in, where water can not drain through filter. 2. The grind of the coffee, if it is ground to fine, like ground for espresso, will not allow coffee to flow through filter , drip machine that are not under high pressure like espresso machines have to have ground more course. 3, wrong type of filters, not fine enough for water to flow, or made for high pump pressure machine such as espresso machine . 4, putting to much water in, is not an issue on a mr coffee, because even if you fill it to full cup line, it would have nothing to do with filter over flowing, besides the coffee grounds always absorb some of the water anyway. In conclusion, my positive professional diagnose is Grounds of coffee to course, and 4 scoops seem a bit to much for a filter of a mr coffee machine that holds only 12 cups. To test this is make a pot same way and use only two rounded scoops and see what happens, if does not over flow that solves that. But your saying I want it stronger, believe me I know. I too like my coffee strong and a flavorful . I have that solved too. Go to a good walk in espresso shop, like a star bucks, tell them you want some good strong blend and have it ( Ground for Drip) and then still only put two rounded scoops, it takes less do to the blend and kind of coffee. Please let me know if my advice worked, thanks mike. oh notice my screen name of mc1 bean, now you know, I know what I am talking about :)

What does it mean to descale my tassimo? the yellow light is on and the screen keeps saying "descale". thanks

In order to keep your Tassimo machine operational at full order, it is important to descale it every three months. Descaling products are widely available from stores that sell coffeemakers and espresso machines. Be sure that the product you buy to descale your Tassimo machine is intended for this specific use only. Mix the descaling product directly in the water container, following the instructions provided on the descaling packaging. Then replace the water container on the machine. Place a large cup or mug on the cup stand, insert the cleaning disc, bar code down and close the brew mechanism. As soon as the AUTO light illuminates, press and release the start/stop button. This will fill the brew cycle with descaling solution. Empty the cup and let the machine stand for 15 minutes. Then open the brew mechanism and close it again, leaving the cleaning disc in place. Repeat this step two more times for maximum descaling effectiveness.

Discard the remaining descaling agent from the water container, rinse it well and refill with fresh, cold water. Clean the machine by flushing water through it in the same manner and emptying the cup as it fills. Make sure that all the descaling solution has been completely rinsed away, and then flush two full water containers through the machine before using it again. Remove the cleaning disc, rinse and refill the water container and your Tassimo machine is ready to use. Also, before you descale your Tassimo machine, always unplug it. Also, never immerse the appliance in water and nor should you use abrasive cleaning products or scouring materials on any part of your Tassimo machine. This method works for most espresso machines, including some of these popular models: the DeLonghi Magnifica EAM3200S, DeLonghi Magnifica ESAM4200S, DeLonghi Perfecta ESAM5400, Gaggia 74507BCN Classic, Krups EA8080 Espresseria Automatic, DeLonghi PrimaDonna ESAM6600, the BC0255 DeLonghi coffee machine and the Krups Nespresso CititZ XN 7006.

Hello, I have a Delonghi Espresso Machine (EC 155). I bought it 17 days ago and I have used it twice in a day carefully. Everything was perfect with my machine until 3 days ago. Then I observed these...

Your machine is new and its under warranty you have rights to replace it with new one. Call your dealer where you brought it, it's either they will replace it or send a service technician.
It will void the warranty if you try to unscrew something.
I hope my advice gives you an idea regarding your unit problem.

My faema e91 turns on but only reads p0.0 on the display. It won't steam and the espresso part works but isn't hot when it comes out.

theres a tempature probe on the upper right side of the boiler that tends to go bad, its a brass screw in sensor with two wire sticking out leading back to the board, replace this. also verify correct water pressure, if its not the sensoe then check your elment for continuity. e

I need a manul forBriel mod eg82

Briel Is a relatively small company that is producing espresso machines. They are based in south america.

They do not have manuals available for download at this time. However, by going to their website I was able to find this contact form.

http://www.briel.pt/front/index.php?option=com_dfcontact&Itemid=28

If you send a request to them at the link above, requesting the users manual for the eg82 they will probably send you a manual.

thank you for using fixya , and i hope this helps you out! Dont forget to rate!

I would like to buy a breville cappuccino maker but hear the dial at side gets stuck and breaks easily, even when cleaned well after use. Has this been rectified. Doreen

Hi, apparently Brita, that owns Breville, did not fix the problem yet.
I can see that complains keep coming.
The problem is apparently on CM8 and CM9, the more expensive Cappuccino Maker BES200XL
does not have the problem.

One suggestion, Breville are nice budget coffe maker, if you want to spend some mor money on a better product buy a Gaggia or something similar. Italian coffee makers are usually the best for espresso/capuccino. If you want a Breville buy the ESP8XL Espresso Machine.
Here is another good brand.
