Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a Goodmans DAB ClockRadio (GCR1930DAB) - looks like a neat little beehive. After only about 3 years it's on the blink - won't tune, the LED display flickers whenever it tries, turning off won't solve it. Any ideas?

It's probably too late for you now, but I have just fixed one of these given to me with the same fault. It was due to an electrolytic capacitor in the power supply which had gone short circuit. Frankly, it's a bad design and far too small to be man enough for its position in the circuit.

    Hi davewi11
I have the same problem...can you give me an idea on how to fix it !

Remove 2 screws in base and 2 screws at top and lift off the top rear cover. Leave the speaker wires connected. Remove 6 screws in the printed board and lift it up over the mains transformer, separating it from the top front cover which will also come off the base, taking care not to break any wires. There are two ribbon cables to the front cover which can be unplugged but need not be.

The capacitor in question is C405 above a row of diodes. Unsolder this and replace with a capacitor of the same or higher capacitance and voltage ratings, negative to the cross-hatched side of the printed symbol. I bodged on an axial wire-ended 2500uF 25V on the other side of the board above the transformer, soldering it to the wire ends of nearby diodes rather than the empty pads themselves to avoid the weight of the capacitor pulling the pads off the board. It is worth checking that all the diodes are soldered properly.

When putting everything back, notice the buttons which have dropped off the slide switches are not symmetrical; the flanges are wider to the rear of the radio. Make sure the aerial wire goes into its slot in the base.

Goodman furnace won't run on generator

I work on Goodmans and I vaguely remember something like this.Be sure the neutral (white wire) and the green ground are the same potential. They both tie into the ground bus at the generator.

What is the code for a goodmans (portible) tv on a

I recommend trying the auto-code search to find one that works for your TV. This will search through every TV code it knows, and if none work, unfortunately it cannot be taught new codes.

To have the remote try each TV code it knows one at a time, follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button for at least 3 seconds until the red LED lights up and stays lit.
  3. Press the TV button on the remote so that the LED blinks once and then remains solid red.
  4. Press the ON/OFF button slowly and repeatedly until the TV turns off. The LED will blink once each time you press the ON/OFF button.
  5. Once the TV turns off, press the ENTER button to store the code and the LED will turn off.

I hope that helps.

Buzzer instead of radio

I have this radio too and from what I have read in a review on amazon suggests alarm does not tune to DAB only FM - very annoying! Contacted Goodman customer care and they suggested it was a problem with a component but maybe it is just the design.

Power LED blinks red

it is a bad fan. it also could be a power supply. Quite often the real problem is dirt clogging up the fan(s) to the point that they need to be replaced. Operation of the set in a dirty environment is not a good idea
