Hard to believe a lot of the answers on this blog - clearly most have no idea what they are talking about. I have the same problem that the motor appears to be grinding but will not let beans 'drop in' to the grinder. I have stripped and reassembled the grinder unit and it operates fine - only have one more item to try as still doesn;t fix the problem. The type of beans, dark flavoured or whatever has no short term bearing on the machine's performance. Long term I can accept it may as have had to remove a lot of rubbish from the grinder. Grinder currently spotless so am going back to the drawing board. If anyone has solved this with a 'real' mechanical solution, please let me know.

OK, I just received a mail from this site saying I had posted a great answer when I clearly did not. However, here is some more information that anyone still on this site might find useful. When I had the problem just over a year ago I decided to buy a few parts and strip the machine down and service it. Surprise Surprise!! My first major discovery as to why the machine wasn't grinding the beans was that the motor was running BACKWARDS (before I had done anything to it) and spitting the beans back to where they came from. Reversed polarity and Phew! (as they say in return to the forbidden planet) everything worked perfectly and has been doing for about a year!!

Mine just started doing the same thing. I've always only used plain espresso beans. Only thing is I may have overfilled the hopper and packed the beans down a bit. How can I make it start grinding again?

Solution was to disassemble and remove packed powder from between the grinding blades.

SOURCE: My Jura Ena 5 gives a 'fill beans' message

Same thing happening to me right now. I think this has something to do with having used flavored beans (which I was warned not to do). Supposedly they gum up the machine.

I have a s9 avantgarde keep getting error fill bean even though i have plenty of bean in the hopper

Seems Problem with the bean sensor. you need to get the same replaced. there are no setting that can be done manually for bean sensor.

A Jura Engineer can check the Bean sensor with his computer system and confirm if the bean sensor is faulty.

Incanto de Luxe always tells me there are no beans in container

I do have the same problem.

I have removed and cleaned the grinder mechanism.

Being an electronic technician I did have a look and tried to find what method they use to detect that the new beans reservoir is empty and I did not see any kind of detector.

I suspect that they monitor the motor current to do this. If it is so would'n it be possible to desable this fonction since it is more then evident when the reservoir is empty or about to be?

Any body knows how they do monitor the status of the new beans reservoir?

Bean hopper is full, grinder is grinding...but NO COFFEE!

Sometimes the chamber between the grinder and brewer will clog up. Try: Open the grind all the way up to the highest number. Push the grind button and while grinding move the dose knob (the one with the + - sign toward minus. If it does not kick in and dose try it again. If it does take off then leave it on the high number for 3 coffees. Then while the grinder is turning move the two knobs back to whre they were. If this does not work you can reomve the brew unit and right above where it sits in the machine there is a trap door that you can open. Open it and shove someting like a straw up toward the grinder and you should get a bunch of grounds droppiing down. Then try the above procedure a couple more times. If this does not work you may need to google "Saeco repair" and send it to an authorized repair center.
