WHEN I PUSH THE START BUTTON I HEAR THE MOTOR RUN BUT THE DRUM WILL NOT TURN AND THE DRYER WILL NOT START.. IF I HOLD THE BUTTEN IN TOO LONG IT WILL EVENTUALLY QUIT AND START TO SMELL. DOES THIS MEAN THE BELT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED OR A ROLLER OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT OR IS IT MORE ELECTRICIAL?

Drum not turning on beko dryer

  • I am not familiar with Beko Dryers, but they all operate on the same principle so let me see if I can steer you in the right direction. Can you turn the drum by hand? Is it free turning with just a bit of resistance? If not, the drum may have come off the felt pads or track and is binding up, or the motor is bad and the drive pulley bearings have frozen.
  • If the drum turns freely by hand, then there are a few things to check. The drum will not turn if a safety circuit is open. This is or could be the dryer door switch. This switch has to be closed for the dryer to think the door is shut and therefore will start the drum turning. Try pushing/holding the latch for the door switch in and then push start. Be careful not to get anything like the clothing you are wearing caught in the open door.
  • Perhaps you can hear the motor run when you push the start button but the drum does not turn. This would indicate that the drive belt broke or came off the drum/motor pulley. In this case you would need to replace the belt as it may have stretched and is now too long. I hope one of these helps..Good Luck!

Drum wont turn.pust start and hear a buzz but drun wont turn

I have found that the switch activated by the door close or turns on the interior light when open on is likely the problem. You may notice that if the door is open and you push the start button, it will buzz. So if the door is closed and you get this buzz when pushing the start button, there is a problem with the door switch. The start button "thinks" the door is open, and therefore not start. The defective door switch needs to be replaced. At least highly likely.

My dryer won,t start. When you set the timer and turned the starter on you hear a sound that seems it will run but when you let go the starter it just won/t run

You have a bad motor. There should be a button you can press to make your dryer go while the door is open. Hold that and push the button in and then turn the drum. if that doesn't make it go then it is your motor

door switch or possibly the motor. if you hold the door switch in and push the start button have someone turn the drum by hand if it starts running it is the motor

When we push the on button, you can hear a hum,

Sounds like the belt that turns the drum has broken. the hum sound is the motor turning. Does it still get hot in the drum? If so then you need a replacement belt ($15-$25).You can open the rear or the dryer to confirm the belt is broken. Be sure to unplug from the wall outlet to avoid electrical shock.

Whirlpool dryer WED5530SQ0, heats but does not run

So,. basically your drum doesnt turn. SO your getting heat still even though the drum isnt turning. Is this right? Sounds strange??? Do you hear any humming noise when you push the start button? I need to know a little more about the problem because im kinda confused as how you decribed the problem. Iv never seen a dryer heat but the drum not spinning. especially your model dryer. Its electric heat right? because if the drum doesnt spin, maybe your motor is bad. and if your motor is bad, then your heating element wont heat up because the centrifical switch in the motor is not switching to complete the circuit to the heating element. So this is why im confused when you said" Dryer heats when knob turned but when "push button" pressed, drum doesnt run." Because your belt wraps around the motor pully and the motor is what makes the drum turn. Like i said, i never seen this model dryer heat with out the motor operating. So if you can give me some more info, ill do my best to help you out....Thanks!!!!

Dryer drum won't start unless I manually push start the drum,  then it'll run fine. Turning the start knob just sounds like it want's to start. So right now I have to hold the start button, hold the...

unfortunatly it is either the motor or the drum bearings in the machine. if it is really hard to push i would suggest looking at all the bearings the drum rides on otherwise it is probably the motor that is getting weak.

Lg dryer

Sounds like you have a motor going out. If you take it back apart see how hard the motor is to turn by hand. Also look for lint in the motor by the start switch.
