Unfortunately you can't. The fault is typically caused by a fracture in the flexible circuit board which is non-repairable.

Your camera was excellent but it's now about ten to thirteen years old and the spare parts required to repair it are long discontinued. In any case, the circuit board on your camera is extremely difficult to replace as it was never intended to be replaced. As your camera was only designed to last a maximum of six years it's done pretty well but nothing lasts forever.

In this case, the only realistic fix is to replace the camera.

I desperately need to locate an owners manual for the camera listed below

If you mean the Olympus IS-3 DLX, you may download a copy of the manual from http://butkus.org/chinon/olympus/olympus_is-3dlx/olympus_is-3dlx.htm

If you really mean the camera "listed below" then what make and model is it? You don't list any below that statement.

I need the size of film and what kind of film my olympus om-1 takes can you help ?

The OM-1 uses standard 35mm film. You can use black-and-white, color print, or color slide film. Color print film should be available at most drugstores. A good camera store will have all types of film.

Film won't advance. But does when the back is momentarily opened

Do you have fresh batteries in the camera. Batteries may be needed to set the exposure and trip the shutter. If the batteries are good, the back when closed may be jamming the film between the cassette and the body. Also make sure your fingers is not restricting the rewind knob on the left side of the camera.

Need plastic ring on front of camera

The parts displayed below have been designated as consumer replaceable and based on your model may include battery covers, external windows, media card covers, sliding lens barrier doors (kits) and more. If the item you are thinking of replacing is not shown, it is not consumer replaceable and you should pursue a professional repair. I would suggest you contact Olympus Customer Service Group at 1-800 622-6372 option 2 and then option 3 , you may also contact that department by email at [email protected]
The items listed below are the compatible parts for the IS-3:

Camera won't work, has an E on the display

If E blinks in the exposure counter, the film is improperly loaded. Reload the film.

Her is the link to the Olympus website where you can download the instruction manual

The manual is available online and your camera does indeed do videos with sound. This acrobat file tells you how to shoot videos.

Olympus Stylus Zoom 140 All Weather 35 mm

Make sure the flash is coming up all the way. If it gets stuck even slightly down from fully raised, it will do what you describe.

I agree, digital P&S won't work as well as your Olympus. Plus all your shots will have to be stored on a hard drive-

C-2100UZ and low light

If you don't need a zoom, the best film P & S that you can get for what you described is an Olympus! It is the Olympus Stylus Epic which has a very sharp 35 mm f2.8 lens. The f2.8 lens with an ISO 800 or the new ISO 1600 film should fit your bill for low light, fast shutter speed photography. B & H has it for $80. Popular Photography magazine once called it the biggest bargain of all times for no-flash photography.
