Question about Maytag Neptune MCG8000AW Gas Dryer
Just remove the control panel. The screws are accessible from the drying cabinet. There will be 5 screws holding the bottom panel in place from the top. It tilts out then up off the clips.

The dryer could think the door is open so it will not start the cycle when the start switch is pressed. You will need to remove the door switch to gain access to the wires on the switch. Remove one wire and tape it to the other wire. Try the dryer to see if it starts the unit. If it does turn the timer to off and order a replacement switch. If drum did not start to turn then you want to lift the top of the dryer to gain access to the start switch. Again remove one wire and touch it to the other wire to see if the drum starts to turn. If it did order a new start switch and replace it. The next item to check is the belt around the drum making sure it has tension on it. If not you will have to remove the front lower panel making sure the belt is around the motor pulley and tension rollers. Make sure the motor has voltage by using a volt meter. I do not have the schematics for this unit, and the last Item would be to check the thermal cut off and to trouble shoot the timer circuit.
