Question about Cosina Cameras

1 Answer

I have been given a Cosina 1: 3.5-5.6, MC MACRO, 58mm lens size, 28-80mm AF lenses. Don't really want it, what should I do? a) bin it b) give it to a charity shop c) find out which camera it is for and advertise in the free ads of the local newspaper.

If it's a Cosina, then it's a Pentax KA mount lens. They're always in demand but prices will be low, even if you're certain that the lens is working. If you cannot confirm the lens works, then it's no good to a charity shop (they'd know nothing about the lens anyway unless they specialise in cameras like one in Redhill, Surrey). Throwing it away just adds to landfill so why not join your local FreeCycle/Freegle group and offer it there, clearly stating that the lens is untested? After making an offer, it opens the door to asking for things which you may sometimes want so could be a good way to start.

Just remembered: the Cosina is a regular Pentax K mount, not KA. Although it is an autofocus lens, the AF system is only compatible with Cosina AF bodies which were cheaply made Dixons own brand items and not many of them are around these days.

The lens will work as a regular manual focus lens on any manual focus K-mount body (Pentax, Chinon, Ricoh, Miranda, Vivitar and a few others) but is almost completely worthless.

Does this lens have a t-mount?

If someone is selling this "old" lens, you should ask him (her) what kind of mount it has. These lenses are made for different brands. Most of the time you also can buy an adapter to fit it on your camera. No problem most adapters don't give trough the AF info, because this lens is an manual focus lens. More interesting is to know if your camera can work with manual lenses. Because most of the time you also have to set everything by hand. Like aperture shutter time and so on. So check the manual if it can, to avoid disappointment after you bought this thing. Also read what others think about this lens.

Can I use one nikon d5100 with one sakar mc zoom 80-200 No. 803489

If your lens has a Nikon mount then yes, you can use it on the D5100. You'll have to switch to the Manual exposure mode and you won't get any exposure help from the camera's light meter.

How do i attach the my zeikos 52mm HD Dslr MC AF 2x telephoto lens to my nikon d90?

You don't. The Zeikos attaches to the front of lens with a 52mm filter thread, which then attaches to the D90. If you have the 18-55mm lens, for example, this will fit onto the front of that lens, effectively converting it to a 36-110mm lens. If you have the 18-105mm lens, this won't fit onto it.
This device is really intended for use with cameras that don't have interchangeable lenses. With your D90, you're much better off using another lens instead of putting this onto the front of another lens.

Was I sold a 'pup'? Tamron lens box says AF55-200mmF4-5.6LD MACRO. Can't find macro setting on lens or instructions. Looking at your site, Product Details says 'No Macro'. So what's...

Excerpted from a www.photo.net review of the lens:

Though the Tamron AF 55-200mm Di II LD Macro has "Macro" in its name, it's not really a macro lens. Maximum magnification is about 1/3 life size (Tamron spec it at 1:3.5) as you can see from the following image below, which was shot at 200mm and at the closest focus distance (0.9m/37.4"). This isn't too bad, but it's more of a close focus telephoto lens than a "macro" lens (bolding for emphasis added).

Which is the difference between these two lenses: Yashica lens AF 35-70mm 1:3.3-4.5 Macro c Yashica lens AF 35-70mm 1:3.3-4.5 Do they work of different form?

I would think that the difference is in the "Macro".

Meaning the Yashica lens AF 35-70mm 1:3.3-4.5 Macro would be able to take close-up photos of smaller things like insects.

I hope that helps.

I have a Cosina AF Macro 100mm lens that I used on

you should be able to use that lens with it. As long as it attaches to the SLR body ok. The thing to be aware of is with better technology in the newer camera you may have AF issues with that particular lens.

Using sony alpha 100 with cosina 28-300

That lens was made for minolta cameras. and it would need to be whats called. "Re-chiped"
if you get a hold of the company that made it then they usually do it for free. If they still have parts.
So what happens is. even though it is an auto focus lens. It wasnt set up to work with sony.So you jsut need the lens and camera to speek the same language in theory.

If you took it to a camera store they should beable to help you get in contact with the company.

Hop that helps,
Caleb
