Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

I see a cross in the screan and exclamation mark with a focus error

If it is permanent then the focus mechanism has stuck, maybe a piece of grit in it, or the gears have come out of mesh. You will need to dismantle to look at the focus mechanism, and in the first instance clean it. Let us know how you get on.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

Writing on the screen is fuzz. can this be adjusted to sharpen the writing?

On the rear of this TV...if it is an RCA....there are two potentiometers. You do not have to remove the back cover. The top button is your focus. Try not to move the lower button as this is your screen voltage! Mark either of these with a permanent marker first, so you can return to the original setting. All other TVs, please remove the cover and use great caution to perform your focus!

Focus Error

It's a message given when the internal lenses get jammed, possibly due to debris within the gears that move the focus. The "Focus Error" message can involve many FujiFilm models.

Focus error message camera wontwork

I found this site to solve this problem. I got as far as tapping the lens, while turning it off. That worked but I still could not take pictures, so, I got the idea to put slight pressure on the lens when turning the camera on and was delighted to see that the error message was gone. Then, reluctantly, I snapped a picture...It worked. Hope this helps u 2..

FOCUS ERROR

I also had this problem. When starting the focus error alert came. Trying to move the focus button also triggered this. When I turned it off, the lens did not pull back. After being close to trowing it away, I used a little bit more force than before and turned the lens manually. I heard a click, and than it worked again. PS: Follow this tip on your own risk.....
