Question about Computers & Internet
IF the HDD has not been damaged, buy a new power cable.
If this is an EIDE drive, and connects via a MOLEX power plug, you can buy a splitter to add an extra socket from one of your working plugs

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Front Panel Header pin assignments as follows:
Pins 2 + 4 = Power Led
Pins 6 + 8 = Power Switch
Pins 12 + 14 = LAN Activity Led
Pins 1 + 3 = HDD Led
Pins 5 + 7 = Reset Switch
Pin 9 = +5v
Pins 11 + 13 = ODD Led
Pin formation is as below with no pin in position 10.
2 4 6 8 10 12 14
1 3 5 7 9 11 13
You will probably need to extend the Front Panel connector cable to reach the header pins on a replacement motherboard - I did this with 2 x N76HL 10 pin extension cables (male to female) from Maplin.
