Question about Acer AL1916W 19" LCD Monitor
They are made to failed, you can see your monitors and all other brands as well that failed after a couple of years. Look for bad caps and bad solder joints as suggest by Louie.
Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/ he can make you a set of caps for you.

Christidis d, If AL1916W has white screen when connected to a "known-good" pc, then the units "switch-mode-power-supply" has gone bad. Most monitors have +5 volts and +12volts dc to power up the electronics. +12v for the inverter circuit which lights-up the 2 cold cathode fluorescent lamps, and +5v for the vga to lcd panel digital signal processing board. One or both of dc rails may be out of regulation and or a bit "noisey" due to failed "electrolytic filter capacitors" on the SMPS board. Let me know the brand name of the capacitors you find on the SMPS board. What is the "date of manufacture" on rear of monitor?
