Hi,
Did you remove the screws from the counter top??? Usually they are held in by a couple of screws through tabs at the top of the dishwasher...open the door and then look up...

other then that I would have no idea what is holding you fast, unless the water supply in coming up through a hole directly into the solenoid valve and holding you...

Having great difficulty opening the dishwasher. no real lever to open.

That's some pretty sketchy information to try to base an answer upon, but having just installed a DW and encountered a similar issue, let me offer this.

While I was doing my install, I encountered difficulties with an uneven floor, semi-rotten floor and subsequently, leveling the front leg adjusters was a challenge. At one point, substantial differences in the adjustments caused the entire body of the DW to become slightly distorted from "square", resulting in the symptoms you describe.

something to check!

Door wont open on Hotpoint WM51 First Edition

This is a common and easily fixed problem. The door should NOT be opened after the wash is completed. You have to wait for AT LEAST 2 minutes to try the door, do not use force. There is a built in mechanism for most front loaders to delay the door opening, so be patient.
In your case you might have already damaged the door lock, so replace. You are lucky if the door can be opened after the lock sign goes off - otherwise you just have to change the door lock.

GE dishwasher - my daughter sat on the door and it opens too far now. Which part needs replacing?

Here's a try.
You need to pull the unit out from the hole it's in so you can examine it.
Most installations have only two screws holding the two tabs to the counter at the top front.
Open the dishwasher door, and look at the very top and see if there are two screws holding the dishwasher to the countertop. If so, remove them.
The dishwasher should now pull out of the hole it is in, BUT, pull it only about halfway out, because there are several connections you do not want to break.
There is a wire hookup, a drain hose hookup , and a feedwater line hookup.
I'm hoping you can do this without disconnection all that.
Try opening and closing the door and see if you can gently bend the metal arms to make it better, or identify what is needing replacement.
Get on your computer or someone else's and type in Sears Parts.
Sears offers free schematics online that will show you pictures you can blow up to any size for any machine.
You will need to take the make and model from the plate on the door or the body of your dishwasher to get the right schematic.
If you need to order parts, many places on line sell them.
Good luck with your efforts.

Dont pull themat the heel or you will be in a tug of war. take them out at the arch and it is a lot easier. Lift the heel out and then pull the toe out.

Went to open my dishwasher and the handle came off, now I cannot get my diswasher open.

Hi

Try to put the handle back in correct position and then give a gentle tug on the door. If this will not help then it can be opened by pushing on either side of the vertical center tab in the door opening and then pulling on the door, this will actually release the actuator mechanism. After this is done the handle should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Can't open door

get a coat hanger or flexible wire and try to run it under latch from the top. This may be difficult depending on how your countertop is. Once it's under the latch from one side to the other, pull up on both sides of wire to raise the latching mechanism. Open door.
