Go to your manufacturer website and select what type of model of your laptop and select your operating system then download the appropriate drivers for your audio device
Go to the control panel / sound and check if the sound is set to mute ? if it is then untick the box and increase the volume. If you are playing songs from cd make sure its a working one. if the cd is fine and the sound is full you are not able to hear the sound then you will need to install the drivers for the card. use the drivers cd which came with the machine. After installing the drivers you should be able to hear songs if you still have issues then possibly somethings wrong with the soundcard / speakers.
try uninstalling sound card from the device manager and reboot the computer.
if the mic does not return you may be missing a driver contact your laptop manufacturer or download new sound card drivers from the websight to restore mic function.
Check your settings for sound in the control panel the fact that you can hear sound from the headphones indicates that the sound card is functioning correctly and not muted. It may be disabled in the control panel.

You have just about answered your own problem. If you can hear sound on other computers and also on TV, then the camera is sending out sound. You should be downloading the video to your laptop with a USB cable. Make sure that you use the same cable on your laptop that you used to download on other computers. In the worst case you could get a card reader with USB and remove your memory chip from the camera and load it into the Card reader. That should solve the sound loss. I have also seen a laptop that would make sound when windows opened up but would not play a music CD. You might want to test your laptop with a music cd before you buy anything!
