Your usb drive should have been infected with virus or trojans before. So the files or folders are "hidden" by showing shortcuts. Follow the steps from this article about how to fix this kind of problem. It helped many people to make it right. Regards

It means that you didnt copy the file. you just copy the shortcut icon.
try to right click the file and click send to and select your Sandisk or you can drag your file to sandisk folder
hope this help

ALL FOLDERS ON MY USB HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO SHORT CUTS

This is usually a signal that a virus is at work. Check that your computer has been checked and is clear. Then check your thumb drives-all of them including your external hard drives.

My memory card is showing shortcuts inside.. all folder changed to shortcuts.. n i m unable to open this.. pls suggest me answer

This is one VIRUS. Please Scan that sandisk with any antivirus. just you can use Kaspersky.
The manual procedure to see all the fiels is:
1. Connect the USB drive
2. go to command prompt. Run-> cmd
3. goto sandisk drive
by default c:\> prompt appears. type the drive letter with colon.
c:\> E: (if E drive assigned to your sandisk)
you can see in mycomputer: drive letter may be e: or f:
.
4.After getting that drive as prompt. like e:\>
Then type these commands.

attrib -s -r -h *.* /s
attrib -s -r -h desktop.ini /s
attrib -s -r -h autorun.inf /s
del desktop.ini /s
del autorun.inf /s
rd recycled /s
rd recycler /s
rd $recycled /s

5. Then goto My computer. you will find the folders and shortcuts also
please remove the SHOTCUTS only...

This will helps you .,

All folders on usb flash memory card changed to be shortcuts , I can't display their contents directly , there is folder called recycler contain an index for the data inside my folders ... i want...

Hello there, sadly you have been attacked by a virus named - RECYCLER. This is a very common virus, I also had an encounter with it recently. What zou are going to do in order to delete is:

1.Look for all folders with shortcut arrow.
2.Right click then properties.
3. in the field TARGET delete everything before path to your usb (before eg. F:/Kobac usb).
4.Save settings. Open folder and copy it to harddrive
5. Do this for all folders.
6. When zou finish coping your data, format your USB.
7. To Format fo to My Computer, right click on USB and format.
8. Copy files from harddrive to your USB back
9. Enjoy!

Good luck, Kobac

I have a iomega eGo HDD and its not showing up on my computer but it shows up under my devices how do I fix that

It depends. If this is the _very_ first time that you have connected the IOMEGA device to your computer, you'll need to "initialize" the HDD for usage by Windows (or Mac OS).
Or, if you've previously done that, and you've written files onto it, and now cannot read those files, you have an entirely-different problem, namely a "hardware" problem.

An external storage device has several major components:

* the USB cable (which in your case, seems OK, since the device is listed)
* the disk-drive inside the enclosure
* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure
* optionally, an external power-supply that connects to the enclosure.

Use a multi-meter to measure the voltage/amperage generated by that power-supply,
and compare with the specifications on the power-supply's label.

Disassemble the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive.
Connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if bypassing that USB-to-disk-drive adapter bypasses the problem.

If the device is still under warranty, IOMEGA will replace it, at minimal cost to you.

If the warranty has terminated, buy a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it inside the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.
