Question about ASUS Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I was surfing the web, left the room for a few minutes and came back to a blank screen. My remote mouse wouldn't work, I couldn't get it to react by wiggling the laptop mouse or hitting keypads. Two lights by the start button were lit up one has a 1, the other an A and they're both in the shape of a pad lock. What happened, why, and how can I get into my computer the next time it happens without turning it off?

Your laptop went into sleep mode/hibernate. In many cases windows could not recover from these situations. One solution is to update the BIOS of your laptop on the acer website. Easy way to fix it is setting your power options under control panel. You can configure the settings here if your pc is idle to prevent sleep mode or hibernate.

I have 2 linsar DVD tvs neither is responding to the remote control

The first thing to do is have the remote tested---almost every shop has a tester--point remote at it, press any or all buttons and the tester reacts---work or no work.

Many digital cameras can be used for this also: in a VERY DARK ROOM with camera on point and watch the display screen on the camera to see if a tiny flash of light when the buttons are pressed.

If remote tests bad (not sending) it can usually be taken apart and fixed in a few minutes---this is better and cheaper than going out to replace it.

We fix a lot in our shop, some for free for customers and ones that pay it is usually under ten dollars.

About the only other thing that could be bad if remote is good, the remote receiver in the units could be bad---unlikely 2 would both be bad........

Remote control doesn't work

Have the remote itself first checked---most tv shops have a tester--point remote at it and press buttons and it reacts-----Many digital cameras will react on their display screen in a very dark room in the same way.

If remote itself tests good the set has a receiver that takes the signal from the remote and it may be bad.

Monitor wont recognize my remote control

Confirm first the remote is actually working---it can be tested with a tester made for this and some digital cameras in a very dim room will react when the remote is pointed at them by flashing on the LCD display screen when buttons are pressed.

If remote is good about all that is left is a bad receiver in the set---a very very few sets do have a lockout feature for the remote but it is rare.
typical remote receiver, some do not have the metal frame.6_3_2012_1_16_26_pm.jpg

Remote stoped working

Have the remote tested--shops have a tester that you point the remote at, press buttons and the tester will react.

Some digital cameras in a dark room will react on their display screen when the same thing is done.

Either the remote or the receiver in the set is causing this problem.

TV remote has no effect

The remote can be tested without the set--most shops have a tester--point remote at it and press buttons and tester reacts.

Many digital cameras in a very dim room (nearly dark) will react in same way on their LCD display screen with a flash of light.

If remote tests good--the remote receiver in the set may be bad (try putting remote as close to set as possible to see if remote works).

A very few sets also have a feature to lock out the remote--owner manual would explain if that is what is wrong here.

Foxtel remote not working

Have the remote tested--there are simple testers the remote is pointed at, buttons (any) and the tester reacts.

Some digital cameras in a dimly lighted room will react on the screen in same way when remote is pointed and buttons pressed.

If remote is good the issue is likely the remote receiver the set uses.

My Mitsubishi wd-63527 turns on for a few seconds and shuts itself off.

The set may have (some models) a recessed reset button on front but that rarely does any good.

This model should have two resets other than that one----soft reset if it has it is with Mitsubishi remote: On, Menu,1,2,3 enter.

Set also has a hard reset which requires a four digit number code and resets set back to factory---it is a last resort and should not be done unless the soft one does not help.

I would have the remote tested as without it you cannot do any reset--
Most digital cameras in a dimly lighted or dark room will react on screen display when a remote is pointed at them and buttons pushed or most shops have a tester which will show and react to each and every button when remote is pointed at them and buttons pressed.

This model could have a keyboard lock feature which disables the keyboard but remote should still function.

First thing is to know if remote actually is working or not.

My Bose remote turns on and off withthe comcast remote but the volume does not work unless I hitthe AUX button first. Does not work with the all button pushed.

Since multiple devices have volume controls you must inform the remote which device's volume you are changing. Just like the Power button. You wouldn't want everything in the room reacting to a generic command.
