Question about Panasonic NN-C994S Convection/Microwave Oven

1 Answer

I have a Panasonic microwave convection that runs for 2 or 3 seconds, then cuts off. It doesn't matter what setting or length of time you program into it, it will run a couple of seconds and shut down. Is this something that can be repaired?

See if this describes what's happening:

  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see http://207.234.249.73/mwd/safety.txt , http://207.234.249.73/mwd/disassembly.txt and http://207.234.249.73/mwd/doorsw.txt

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

That may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Sharp microwave r1870 only runs for 59 seconds

If it consistently runs for exactly 59 seconds, and shuts off, it's probably the control panel.

If it runs approximately that length of time, you might have a defective thermal protector on the magnetron, or the magnetron is running too warm for some reason.

Oven only runs for 5 seconds no matter the time programmed in. the power level can be set and it does not matter, the oven runs for 5 seconds and shuts off.

I would need your full model number to help you best, but I'm guessing that at least it's a Panasonic?

No matter what time i put in it cuts off in 60 seconds on a sharp

This sounds like a bad damper switch or motor. Double check the shut off time....... see if it's actually 59 seconds..
When you unplug the unit from the wall for 2 minutes then plug it bad in, you should be able to faintly hear a motor run for a few seconds. This is the damper motor running. This will verify that the motor is operating.....
Also, check the thermistor.

Microwave cut off

the main control board is "seeingf" a high amprage draw from the inverter board . you have a problem with the inverter or the magntron . parts are more than a new unit . try to stay away from the inverter type , there just not ready for prime time . google "panasonic inverter reviews " and you will see just common your problem is good luck
